H&M M by Madonna

Having personally been unimpressed by the last few designer for H&M collections, I didn't really have much expectations of this M by Madonna collection either. I was only vaguely aware that it was even coming out this week! But then while shopping with my cousin at the new H&M store in HK (you will not believe what a crowd it was-and still is) I came across the collection and so took a look. And boy was I surprised. I actually LIKE the collection! Its simple, chic, elegant and totally wearable.

While people have complained that this is a boring and safe collection, I personally think that this is the best way to do it. For even though the previous designer collections have been adventurous and exciting, you ultimately cannot cheaply mass produce such garments without compromising the quality. At least with this collection, since the designs are so classic, there is less room to go wrong.
The classic white trench looks gorgeous. But alas, its such a hot item I did not see it at the store.
But mostly I am just loving the office looks from this collection. They are so simple, put-together yet very sexy and chic.
I adore these two all over white look.
And I absolutely LOVE this dress (left). I saw it in white, tried it on and it looked great and fitted BEAUTIFULLY. I almost even bought it, but alas, I didn't have anywhere to wear it to. For something more casual, the shirt dress on the right is also a great option.
For pattern, these two dresses are sophisticated and classy.
And THESE are the belts i've been looking for. Simple and versatile with just the right amount of detail and width- I'd like one of each please!

The best thing I like about this collection is that it doesn't look cheap. I'd wear everything I've just posted. My only concern now is that since its so widely publicized and sold, do I really want to risk clashing with every other girl on the street. . . . . .

I don't actually love all of the line's clothes but I LOVE MADONNA so I would so get something from the line.

It does look cheap to me, especially the belts. I like what you're saying about the clean lines, and you're right about that. But you're even more right about the 100% chance you'll run into someone wearing the same thing.

Ahh, the wide white belt is exaclty what I've been looking for. Leave it up to Madge to save the day- again.

I think these are all bankable looks in the H&M line. Their well tailored, versatile pieces with very flattering cuts.

Why use Madonna's name on such "normal" outfits? This is such a crummy tactic.

Big belts, empire waists, pencil skirts?
This collection doesn't bring anything to the table that Zara and Mango didn't already give us last season. And they fit better and last longer than H&M anyway.

I LOVE the belts, the patterned dress on the right and the office/white outfits. Simple yet chic, Madonna's really done well this time. It's something you can buy and you just know you'll wear.

I think Madonnas collection is okay, but I just think they are a little bit boring, and not so "young". Their for I probally don't think you will see an 15-year old school girl in those clothes..

My only issue is, who is Madonna to be designing a clothing line? Wearing nice stuff and enjoying shopping do not a fashion designer make. I am sceptical about how much real input she had here...

That said, these are nice enough.

I like the white sequin dress from the collection (not shown in the post) but that's not a piece you can wear all the time. But that's the only piece i would buy.

i don't know...i'm of the opinion that no two women wear an outfit the same way. so what if you end of up wearing the same dress as another woman at a party or in the office? if you wear it better there's no contest.
