New York SS08 Fashion Week Wrapup I

It's fashion week! OK so I'm not totally excited about NY Fashion Week because few shows there are actually directional or gorgeous, but it is nice to look at new, modern clothes.

BCBG Max Azria
I never used to care much for BCBG until this summer's visit to LA, I realised that BCBG sells really useful, pretty, contemporary clothes that are affordable. This season's BCBG seems a bit inspired by Nina Ricci's FW07 collection. It used a lot of that sheer material to form a layer over the non-transparent layer. And note the belts tied at the waist -big trend this FW and probably next SS!
The dress in the middle is one of my favourites from this collection. Love the colour combination and the chiffon layering at the bust area.
Lots of sheer chiffon layering.
Erin Featherson
Remember how cute Erin Featherson's last show was? Everyone looked like fairies. For this collection, the models look like they're fairies just starting to work.
All the models had white eyeshadow and mascara on. Looks cute close-up, but...
... not so cute from afar! The first time I looked through the photos, I was so distracted by the eyes I hardly saw the clothes!
The silver dress is so cute! Very ballerina-ish.
Marchesa
Ah, the brand of gorgeous dresses! This collection was supposedly inspired by India, (although I'm sure some Indians would be a bit offended by how flashy or revealing some of the dresses are!) The dresses throughout the collection didn't connect that well to me, but there's no denying they're too pretty not to look!
The navy dress is so elegant -I love the crystal details at the waist!
Gorgeous dress! This dress looks like a bunch of embellished flower petals, doesn't it? The way the material is draped is so nice! If you're interested, the dress before this dress at style.com looks even more like rose petals -the model there literally looks like a rose bud!

  1. Oh wow! I love essentially all the dresses in Marchesa's collection. They're so beautifully draped and flow-ey. Now if only we had an occasion to wear one to...

  7. yeah, the grey on in the middle at the top is gorgeous! i didn't realize they had white mascara on - i was wondering why the models looked a bit off, hadn't had the time to pop over the thefashionspot to check out what the case was.
anyhow, great site you've got here. keep up the great work:)

  11. the golden green in both bcbg and marchesa remind me of prada, its a pretty color and fun for fall with darker shades, then useful for spring as well, i would snap up this color! (chartreuse?)

  12. okay i meant CHARTREUSE YELLOW not the neon green people call chartreuse nowadays... from wikipedia:

"Before the web color chartreuse was invented in the 1990s, the color name chartreuse always referred to a much more yellowish green color that is today called chartreuse yellow to distinguish it from the color displayed in this article.

Since many people (especially those in the baby boom generation and older, but also some younger people not involved with computers) still think of the term chartreuse as referring to what is nowadays called chartreuse yellow, it may be necessary to carefully distinguish between the two colors by referring to the color described in this article as chartreuse green when speaking to or writing for certain audiences (especially those not involved in web site design or the computer industry) to avoid any confusion."

  21. the last collection has very beautiful dresses. although, I must agree... the white eye make-up is very disturbing. And the clothes weren't anything spectacular, either.

  22. marchesca is amazing, but about the indian-inspired thing, dont you mean only traditional indians would get offended?
im sure any indian person who even follows fashion (like me) is modern enough to not be offended by something as innocent as those dresses.
i know you didnt intend it, but when people say generalized things like that it irks me.
