New FW06 Layout

Ta-da! We have finally officially moved onto FW06!

For the past two layouts, our friend T helped us out with the technical stuff, like Photoshop and html. But it seems that the two of us are not quite as technically challenged as we'd thought and have actually picked up some skills in the last two (almost) years of blogging. Through many hours of playing around in our spare time (when HG got her wisdom teeth pulled out and BG didn't have to work), we finally came up with this layout using our limited skills and tons of creativity. This is the first time we've created the background all by ourselves using Photoshop, so we are especially proud of it.

This season's layout themes are shapes and minimalism with an eye for details. The silhouettes of the models demonstrate important shapes of this season, and the interior of the models shows the essence of this season's designs and mood. We chose the silhouettes and advertisements from the designer collections that we liked the most this season: Chloe, Balenciaga, Prada, Marc by Marc Jacobs and Gucci. As for colours, this season's will dominantly be black, grey and white, with splashes of red and purple.

Anyways, let us know if the new layout doesn't work on your browser. Hope you like the new layout -hopefully it makes you feel some of this season's fashion mood!

  1. Congratulations for your work!

I think that the most important is to have the imagination, then, the tools, will come in case single.

And, yes, you've made fantastic background!

  13. really nice for your first try! I miss the old layout a bit, but i love this one too!

If i could make a suggestion as a designer, i really want to chop off some of that space at the top, and the font I think could use some work too, maybe a sans serif like Helvetica, Gill Sans, Fruitger, or if you realy want to keep the serifs, Boudoni or Finiche.

frankly i dont think that was ripping off the balenciaga website.. yes they both use a plain gray background but apart from that they have nothing in common really.

HG & BG: as a fine arts student i totally agree with victoriaying... the font could do with some work... and cut off the top bits! its a really creative layout. well i love the old one better though probably because its more colorful and the postcard scenery is just so pretty :) - well its spring here in sydney after all so im all about colors! haha. but yea, apart from that i think this background is perfect for fall/winter :)

  22. Yes we did take the border and grey background from the Balenciaga ads. It's not taken directly off and it's been altered. Perhaps we used it because it conveys the mood this season?

  23. Amazing. This is the best of your backgrounds 'til now!

  28. I think it's artsy, but I don't get the lower right-hand area of the grey background--what is that supposed to represent? It just looks kind of messy. I am referring to the area of the background just to the right of the quotation. Can anyone tell me what I am missing?

  35. I like the silhouette concept but you got me confused on the triangular shape behind the model. At first glance it seems that it is a part of a dress or is it?
Aside from that, you did a very good job. Congratulations!
