Serious Rainboots

In the pass I've blogged about pretty, rainbow colored rainboots that you can play matchy, matchy with and have a lot of fun. But after a particularly bad day yesterday, braving the pouring rain for half a hour (even though it is usually only a 15 minute walk!), squeezing onto the bus and getting my jeans soaked even though I have an umbrella, I am thinking that I should really invest in a serious pair of rainboots. Something that will just keep my feet (and hopefully half my jeans) nice, dry and CLEAN. Something I can wear so then I would NOT have to avoid puddles or worry about slipping. Something that is simple, versatile but of good quality.
Something like the classic Hunter rainboots. I'm not sure how it warrants the $115 price tag, but I guess it is an assurance of quality? They are the rainboots of rainboots after all. If you want to buy a trench coat, you got to go to Burberry. If you must buy trunk-like sheepskin snow boots, you have to buy Uggs. And if you want to buy rainboots, then you should get Hunter rainboots.

The style itself is simple and as sleek as rainboots can get. It is sturdy and definitely slip-proof. While the buckle makes the boots not so plain looking, it is also functional. These are serious no nonsense rainboots. Just what I need. They also come in many different colors, to add a bit of color to a dreary day. I'm considering this iris color. Black is just a bit too dark and yellow reminds me too much of those yellow wellington boots that cartoon bear wore. Now the only thing is convincing myself to make the splurge. Just that it's hard when it is all I want on a rainy day, but the furthest thing in my mind on a sunny (good for shopping) day!

  1. If you're serious about them; get the wide calf if your calves aren't super skinny. Cause it's hard to tuck pants in.

  7. Rainboots can definitely be taken seriously as a fashion item! When the weather is dull and gloomy, you should still stand out, and that is why i'd suggest the yellow hunter boots! [but the classic is still the blue] You'd want to look stylish even when its raining!

  10. But then what will you wear when you get indoors? Will you carry your regular shoes? If you're going to splurge on rain boots, you may as well go with something like these

  13. I wonder if they have those with floral motives; some fall colors: beige, organge, yellow. Even better - leaves pattern. I usually see only floral patterns on the rain boots.

  14. I'm obsesses with rain boots, perhaps because I lived in the Midwest for a year. These are well-designed but I would prefer them in red or black probably.

I'm actually working on a shoe photo project right now, where I write narratives about all of the shoes in my dorm closet. Please check it out at: www.paisleyandparasols.com

  19. wellington boots!!

You must get hunter wellies. i got a pair for my birthday (my parents have an odd taste in gifts) . .and they are well worth the money. mine are the classic green colour, which is what every welly should be; or it just looks really try-hard. i got mine for about £40, but that was from a farmer's shop here in the uk . . .i'm not sure how much they'd be out of britain . . they're exports, i suppose

  28. I have to agree with a majority of people here that there are cheaper alternatives. Afterall, why spend a lot of money on something meant to be worn when it sucks out?

That said, on the other side, putting on a chic pair of boots could improve a rainy day.

Maybe the best move is to just find a reasonable pair that make you smile.

  29. if you have the means and you feel the need to buy it.. then go! splurge into something that can majorly satisfy your urge.. =) but think practicality as well.. nice boots by the way and indeed the buckle made the changing look of the entire piece.. vi-a-v!

  31. Rainboots are so cute! If it rained more where I lived, I would invest in some too. I want these bright yellow ones with this crocodiles I once saw at Lane Bryant.

I think Target has some cute ones you can order only via catalog.

  36. Just purchased Huntress wellies in black (wider calf by 2") and I love them! Hard to find this style in Toronto as most retailers had not heard of them. Well worth searching for if you plan on wearing them with jeans tucked inside. Let it rain!

  41. Hunter wellies are made in China. They don't last very long if you have to use them regularly - 6 months if you're lucky.

Keep 'em in a display case, as they really are quite fragile. Heels wear down prematurely, and they do crack and split across the foot and ankle.

You can get it all with one bag when you buy Coach Outlet Purses. Coach Legacy are stylish at the same time they are fashionable. They are also high-quality, with good fabrics and stitching, and include a Coach Luggage logo. While Coach Poppy is a great purse for every occasion, some Coach purses are on the more trendy side and can be great for the fashionista.
