Changes in Grey's Anatomy

I remember when I first watched Grey's Anatomy, I was so impressed how realistic the makeup was: Everyone’s hair looked normal and all the interns actually looked tired at the end of each episode, (thanks so their 48 hrs shifts.) I mean, Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) and Cristina (Sandra Oh) actually had slight dark circles! How rare is it that you see thirty-something actresses on American TV look anything less than perfect?

From Episode 101:

But is it just me or have they suddenly looked prettier in this season (Season 2)? For starters, Meredith obviously had professionally blown-dry hair –see Episode 221 if you don’t believe me. Her hair was perfectly layered and moved beautifully around her throughout the episode! From Episode 221:

And in the episode two weeks ago (Episode 222), her hair was even curled, and again, stayed so perfect to the end. From Episode 222:

I
f you observe carefully, there are no dark circles under any of the interns’ eyes anymore. Hmm, maybe they’ve simply gotten used to the long shifts. Oh, and has anyone noticed there is virtually NO medical stuff in the show anymore? It's all about drama these days. Thank goodness we still have House for interesting medical stuff!

Even though I do like looking at beautiful people on tv, it’s even better to see slightly more realistic looks. Bring the tired looks from Season 1 back!

  1. I'll agree that the hair and makeup has changed...but I still love the show!

  2. I love House but it is way too masculine - the only women in the show are Cuddy and scary anorexic Cameron

Grey's is very soap operaish but I like watching the interesting (if not real) interpersonal dynamics of a hospital

  4. Yeah the first season was better. But I thought they didn't do the 48 hour shifts anymore, I thought that's why they looked better. We still love it, it hasn't gone too soap operaish for me - Desperate Housewives did that to me in three episodes. Couldn't stand it after that.

  5. As a nursing student, I pay more attention to the nurses probably more than the average person does.

Look at the nursing characters - they aren't pretty and the somewhat pretty one is the syphilis nurse.

  6. By the way, check out their skin coloring (especially cheeks, forehead, chin). Almost every week every single actor and actress on the show looks positively -orange-, especially in close-ups. I actually had to check a different television set to make sure it was true, but yes, their makeup artist does something very orangey to them and I don't like it.

I also don't like how soap-y it's gotten. I'm worried the 6 of them are going to run out of sexchanges and then where will our beloved little series go?

Last but not least... a clips show? In the middle of the second season? Really? Others must have complaints about the show's progress as well, or else they wouldn't be grappling for new viewers (and betraying the loyal ones) like this!

  8. Hey! I love your blog and it's become daily reading material for me! Just wondering, (because I started a fashion blog too this year).. how do you insert all the photos you collect from the internet quickly, but in a way that they will still remain on your site long after they disappear from the internet? Right now I'm using my own photo hosting (flickr) but it takes so long to save each photo, upload, then link on my blog. Thanks for any tips and keep up the good reviews! O_o

  9. style-bard: I know!! I can't believe after (what seems like) weeks of no grey's anatomy, they give us a review of clips today!! This is esp bad when u are looking for quality tv and all u get is a cts rerun of desperate housewives and greys anatomy. All there is to watch is the pathetic life of Dennis watshername.

Asian Lep: That was a good episode. Speaking of which, WHERE are the heart warming patient-doctor scenes??

Shi: Yes, saving and uploading every single photo is such a pain. But thats what we do. Sorry we can't be of any help. Should u DO find a shortcut to all this, PLEASE, let us know!!

  10. for meredith, fixing her hair represents her mood. when she was depressed, she put her hair in a messy ponytail. but now she is in a fresh relationship where she feels like looking great for the guy. she explained this in the new tv guide issue... the hair thing.

  11. It's not the hair that I noticed, but their skin! Meredith has this *perfect* skin that literally *glows.* Serious. Check it out next time. I'm always transfixed when I watch the show.

  12. Last night's episode absolutely broke my heart. It was awful! What happened to the quick, witty dialogue and the craziness of the e.r.? I think they showed a medical case for all of 10 minutes of the episode. This episode was all about relationships and was entirely too predictable. It's like the writing staff has changed or something. I agree that the makeup has changed and doesn't make the show look realistic at all. Yeah, Meredith's in love, but she also works in a hospital. I don't understand how the show could have lost it's edge after just a few weeks break. I hope it returns to the glory of it's earlier episodes...otherwise it won't be worth watching.

  14. well changes do happen in life and and it would be unrealistic if they presents a character without any change throughout the series. And i am glad that they keep this in mind and brings changes in characters and sets time to time. Thats why i love to watch greys anatomy

  15. How I am pity for those kids. They don't have anyone to help them out, I mean the parents, they don't feel love in the whole manner they should. They have no one for help with college essay writing and other home assignments and thy spend their time with such serials. Poor kids
