Mischa Barton for Keds

While I was flipping through Teen Vogue a few months ago, it occured to me that it actually seems natural now to see Ked's shoes featured within the editorial content. But think back a few years ago, hardly anyone knew Ked's! I'm sure Keds was a well-known brand before, but let's face it, before Mischa started advertising for it, Ked's was no where near the fashion radar. But since the images of Mischa looking very cool in cute outfits and various pair of Ked's started appearing in Teen Vogue and other magazines, Keds just seemed more... attractive, at least on print it did.

Starting from Mischa's golden girl days at the OC.

So cute and pretty! Mischa looks like an effortless prom queen here.

Looking cool in a silk dress and Keds.

Keds for the fun-loving girl inside all of us.

This is one of this season's ads. I LOVE this image -a stylish student looking cool in the library. If only we all looked like that as a student!

Seeing Keds in real life though, is slightly disappointing. And perhaps most importantly, it is impossible for one to make Keds look cool, that is unless you wear clothes that really match Keds style, or you look as cool as Mischa does.

I really disagree with being dissapointing in real life- one of my friends has the navy/beige striped ones and looks really good. I also adore the "dolce" flats on the website- take a look- they are really cute!!!

I love my owl keds! I think they are cute. But I have to agree with all of you really. There are certain pairs that would only look good with certain things and other pairs look good with lots of them!

The reason Keds became "cool" in the past few years is partly due to the fact that Mischa is advertising them, but also because they have totally revamped their look. If you look at old Ked-style shoes, they were clearly designed for an older, more conservative crowd. Owl print, fruity print, and 'vintage' keds are all geared towards teenagers.

Of course, they're not versatile as a ballet flat but I'm still dying for a pair of owl keds!

I'll be honest and say I don't really like them that much.

I personally love these kind of shoes, but i don't really like Keds cause their styles are just so boring. These shoes look so much better when they have funky designs on them.

Keds reminds me of the shoes I wore when I was really young. I have a pair of the white ones with the red cherries on them. I forgot what exactly they were because I got them at the beginning of the summer. I thought they looked so cute in the ads but when I recieved them in the mail... and tried them on, I actually thought they were extremely unflattering. I haven't even worn them once. But~ I have seen some girls with keds on and they look great! You're right tho... they don't translate so well in real life. I guess it takes a specific person to pull it off well.

I love them. I have a pair of laceless ones in navy, and classic black ones that I wear without laces. For me, they are a good alternative to Vans and Converse for a casual sneaker. I think they look really cute with skinny jeans or shorts.

I'm not a huge fan of Keds. I don't mind the lace ones - but I think if you are going to wear flats with skirts/shorts/dresses - it should be ballet shoes!!!

I'll have to disagree on the Keds not looking so great in really life. I have plaid Keds and really, they make every outfit cuter. And my sister has the patched Keds and they give any outfit an urban/grunge twist. I try to wear them whenever I feel like my clothing is in one style zone.

I just can't get into keds, for me, they've always been that brand you buy when you can't afford shoes that are actually fashionable. I'll have see where all this "hipping up" of their designs go before I make any final judgements, though.

When I was a kid back in the early 1990's, we used to pull the laces out of our Keds, and now they make Keds without the laces, but the lace-holes are still there. haha!

a few weeks ago i was starting to want a pair of keds... i must have seen too much of the mischa for keds ad! i love the black/pink polka dot ones but couldnt find them anywhere in the department stores here in sydney. went onto ebay and people are bidding up like crazy. i give up! :(

now at myer/david jones here in sydney they only have the cherry & citrus ones. i guess i've way outgrown that. anyways, just wanted to say mischa barton does make keds hip again! i adore those ballet flats :)

Having never seen a keds shoe in real life, i headed off in search of some. They are disappointing only if you think that by wearing them you will instantly be transformed into mischa (this is similar to the way that a pair of rock and republic jeans never actually give you VB's bum!)so, (in conclusion!)they're cool in an 'effortless' sort of way, but you've really got to already have some style of your own to pull them off without looking a bit like you didn't really know where your wardrobe was this morning.

I have a blue flowered pair of Ked flats from last season that I am still completely in love with. I wear them with my boring school uniform to 'spice things up a bit' and you wouldn't believe how many compliments I've gotten on them. They can be a little uncomfortable at first, but once you break them in a bit, they're totally comfortable-and totally sytlish ;)

I have the black with pink polkadots keds. I love the look of them, but did anyone else find that they are PAINFUL to wear?? I had to buy one size up, and the length is fine, but they've designed the shoe so that the heelcap seems to curve in a little. Everyone I know who owns these has the same problem.

Still, they're so cute to wear!

And Sophia, have you tried General Pants?? They've always stocked the most Keds.

i LOVE keds, i have basically EVERY PAIR of keds shoes ever to be made. from the dolce skimmers to the champion collection. They're just so good for any occassion. whether hitting the shops to do some shopping or going to a dance party there's always a pair of keds that suit the occassion, whatever it is.

dear sarah, i'm not sure with you but i seem to have no problem with wearing keds, maybe you're feet have just grown in the past from when you had bought them. indeed i have the same shoes and they are very cute to wear.

EVERYONE could get back into keds and i mean everyone. they are way cooler than cons. i have SO MANY keds just floating around my wardrobe.

yes, maybe mischa barton has made keds more popular. i may have come across the brand a few times before but i was never so obsessed with them since the past season. they have changed their styles and now there is a pair to suit everyone rather than before when they were basically just for the conservative older bunch.

mischa barton is my idol and i respect her so much, maybe i only like keds so much becasue my idol- mischa is the model but they are still great shoes.

everyone should atleast have one pair of keds.

I bought a really cute pair with little cherries on them and a red bow. I wore them around the house all day. They were extremely uncomfortable and really hurt my heels. Rather disappointing, so I returned them.

I have a few pair of keds and I think they are just fabulous! They are so comfortable and wearing them at work all day are not a problem! You all should go to keds.com and find a pair because you can go wrong with keds!
