CFDA 2007
I was going to blog about fashion at the MTV Movies Award, but since I fancied none of the outfits there and the CFDA happened, obviously the CFDA was way more fashion-worthy to blog about. It's a bit iffy that both Oscar de la Renta and Preonza Schouler tied for the Designer of the Year Award, but oh well.
First off, two of this year's hostesses were Mary Kate and Ashley. The two brilliant businesswomen are wearing clothes by their own brands -Ash was wearing a long black jacket by The Row and MK was in a cream dress by Elizabeth and James (their new brand which I'm really looking foward to.) I'm not too sure about Ash's outfit, but I really MK's dress and her accessorising (many many braclets, rings and an oversized Miu Miu clutch).
Anna Wintour and Bee Schaffer both in black and white -both very pretty and classic.
Uma Thurman in Zac Posen. It's a nice dress, but not really my style. Diane von Furstenburg in her own very summery dress -it's so fabulous how her dresses are so colourful yet still so age-suitable.
Claire Danes in Peter Som -seriously pretty and really suits her.
Alicia Keyes in a boring dress and Chloe Sevigny in a Holly Dunlap dress. I don't like both of these dresses -one is boring and one is unflattering.
Eve Mendes in a hot pink Calvin Klein dress -modern, sleek and eye-catching. Kate Bosworth looking pretty (as usual) in Proenza Schouler. I thought the dress looked too mature and conservative for her at first, but then I thought it's lady-like with some pretty details -a very thin line indeed!
Lily Cole in a Valentino dress, which looked less lady-like and prim than the typical Valentino dress. It's very clubbing and party-ish (although is is really suitable for this event?) Hilary Rhoda in Marchesa -it's a really gorgeous and flowy dress, but nothing unexpected by Marchesa.
Michael Kors and his girls, Debra Messing and Heidi Klum. Heidi looks over-tanned and the dresses are just not particularly exciting.
Ralph Lauren with Oprah. The dress just looks like the ones Oprah always wears.
Zac Posen with Karen Elson (-she's pregnant and still looks amazing in one of those tight, long dresses!) Phillip Lim with Irina in his design. Irina's dress (and her look in general) is definitely one of my favourite from this event. It's so elegant, pretty and girly. I love the clothes by 3.1 Phillip Lim. He totally deserves the Swarovski Award for Womenswear imo.

on the other habd, I alwyas tend to think DVF very "Not dressed up", and looking pretty bad. I don´t know. I dont really like her dress, I think it looks cheap. I think uma thurman looks kinda of hot in that dress, if u consider her extremely thin body,. and margherita missoni - what happened?? ( i know u didnt put het photo but.) her dress was soooooooo old! not even my grandma would wear it!

I don't know, of the Olsens I like Ashley's overall look best. Both of their eye makeup looks horrible (lighten it up a little) and MK's hair isn't very flattering, it looks yellow and straggly.
But I agree about Irina, she looks lovely.
Debrah Messings dress is gorgeous the cut and coloring is perefect for her
Can I just say how utterly gorgeous Irina Lazareanu looks in Phillip Lim? How the dress flows and drapes onto the floor and her pose is so pretty.
Oh and I agree with your opinion on Ashley Olsen's dress. it just looks so awkward on her...bleh
I actually diasagree about MK looking better than Ashley for this event- she looked a bit to scraggly fo my taste, while Ashley looked way more put-together and chic. Claire Danes looked amazing, and I actually loved Eva Mendes dress! So cute! I thought Kate Bosworth's dress was a bit too ladylike, but she still looked good. The worst looks, I think, were Heidi Klum and Chloe Sevigny.
Doesn't Debra's dress (which I'm assuming is by Micheal Kors) look similar to the Vera Wang Jennifer Hudson wore to the Golden Globes?
Irina and Uma are two of my favorite women EVER. They both look beautiful!

suprisingly, i liked mk's look better than ashley's. love the style of that white dress. if i saw dvf's dress on anyone but her, i would've thought it was very tacky, but she looks gorgeous and fab in it and i love her for that! i liked kate bosworth's dress as well, but i thought it was a bit too mature also, i think she should've done something more different with the makeup and hair. lily cole looks way too amazing in that valentino. same with irina as always, she looks fabulous!

and does anyone else think anna really needs a new hairstyle? i find it interesting that a woman who runs a magazine that is supposed to be about change and innovation can be so...boring.
i do have to agree that mtv awards did not have very many 'stand-out' dresses but Jessica Alba(who always looks beautiful),Lauren"LC" Conrad, and Heidi Montag did have pretty dresses.laurens and Jessicas were boring, but flattered them very nicely, and i absolutely loved Heidi's dress the dark blue was stunnung.
God, doesn't Oprah realize that her body can look flattering in OTHER kinds of dresses as well?
