Hey Beauty Queen, you're a Rockstar

Combine floral with steel, and chiffon with leather; people will tell you it's been done before and it will be done again. In my opinion, keep it going.

My own style doesn’t exactly incorporate the idea of “girly," however, I do develop the occasional crave to buy everything in powder pink. I love glitter and glam, but it's even better when you mix in some grunge, a little gaudyness (think Sonia Rykiel jewel studded bags), and a lot of black . Once you do that, you'll arrive at the whereabouts of what I'm drawn to.

I find that Balmain creates this fascinating balance between something macho but ever so complimenting to the female figure. Oh! Those studded heels!

And after seeing this magazine spread in Numéro, shot by Camilla Akrans, I want to dress like this everyday. So bring on the sparkles
and the studs. I'd love to hear all about your style, so let me know!

no offense but make your posts have a little more substance; they are just not as fulfilling as those by HG & BG.

I disagree with the previous post. I think this post is just fine. It's definitely a different style than what "I am Fashion" normally looks at, but I like the change from couture dresses.
Love love LOVE that third Balmain outftit! =]

This post is great. I think I am Fashion was becoming slightly too conservative - insofar as if it deviated even slightly from the fashion mundane or sweet little dress,it was criticized. I think I am Fashion became popular when fashion was primarily dress and feminine focused, which I believe is more BG and HG's nature style. Fashion has definitely changed since then (with the arise of grunge and more masculine dressing) and it's refreshing to have a new voice that maybe represents more of the edgier trends of the moment. Not that I found anything wrong with BG and HG's postings. I still read and like the blog tons.

I agree the juxtaposition of ultra feminine with grunge is incredibly appealing. =)

I love the Balmain dress on the right in black. Since my fiance just bought me a diamond engagement ring from www.idonowidont.com I want a hot fashion dress for my wedding and I think that dress would take the cake.

Like, OMG!!! Grunge is like, so, like ovah, like, I need to get, like, ovah myself.

I have no idea whether grunge is over or not so it's not that bit that got to me, it was more the whole "cultually developed nations thing". I love how some poeple who live in the (economically)developed world say things like this, it's a fascinating insight into how their minds work.

Lots of iamfashion fan love,

LOL anonymous 4/6, I didn't say "like"

I didn't appreciate your criticism of the original bloggers, saying they were "too conservative" and too into "the sweet little dress" so I obviously was taken aback by your posing as an expert on fashion trends by referring to the subsequent "arise of grunge" as you put it.

So, like, the comment was just dumb and disrespectful toward BG and HG. And I don't know if you noticed, but BG is still here, for which I, for one, am thankful.

I LOVE this post! One of my fave posts, cause it just hit me, you know?:) This is how I want to dress, but not how I really dress tho. I'm more simple and clean (I'm Scandinavian...), but I really want to get me some more sparkle and studs!:))) This got me very inspired.

Wow...just wow. Kinda surprised at tempers flaring here...

My two cents - I think the thing about style is that you have something that sets you apart. If you imitate fashion, you might be trendy, but you lack your own style.

The same goes for writing. E has her own style and it supplements the existing style/culture of iamfashion well, imo.

If nothing else, she at least started an interesting conversation (except where it gets rude, dissent is a good thing people!) :)

Finally! Someone who recognises that not all of us like to dress like little girls.
Bring on the black. And studs!

I think your post was just fine. You've commented on fashion, which is what most of us come here for.
If we wanted an update on the economic crisis, we'd go to a economic/political blog.
What I'm interested in is the clothes, accessories and how to put them all together.
This blog is my personal stylist - and I have gotten what I've come for!

P.S. That Balmain black mini dress is divine!

I wear feminine mixed with grunge as much as possible - i think that if you can pull it off, its sexy as hell.
I also agreed with the comment above mine!

It was handmade for individuals, either as home production or on order from dressmakers and tailors. By the beginning of the 20th century—with the rise of new technologies such as the sewing machine, the rise of oil paintings for sale and the development of the factory system of production, and the proliferation of retail outlets such as department stores—clothing had increasingly come to be mass-produced in standard sizes and sold at fixed prices. Although the fashion industry developed first in Europe and America, today it is an international and highly globalized industry, with clothing often designed in one country, manufactured in another, and sold world-wide. For example, an American fashion company might source fabric in China and have the clothes manufactured in Vietnam, finished in Italy, and shipped to a warehouse in the United States for distribution to retail outlets internationally. The fashion industry has long been one of the largest employers in the United States, and it remains so in the 21st century. However, employment declined considerably as production increasingly moved overseas, especially to China. Because data on the fashion industry typically are reported for national economies and expressed in terms of the industry’s many separate oil paintings, aggregate figures for world production of textiles and clothing are difficult to obtain. However, by any measure, the industry accounts for a significant share of world economic output.
