Hey Beauty Queen, you're a Rockstar
Combine floral with steel, and chiffon with leather; people will tell you it's been done before and it will be done again. In my opinion, keep it going.
My own style doesn’t exactly incorporate the idea of “girly," however, I do develop the occasional crave to buy everything in powder pink. I love glitter and glam, but it's even better when you mix in some grunge, a little gaudyness (think Sonia Rykiel jewel studded bags), and a lot of black . Once you do that, you'll arrive at the whereabouts of what I'm drawn to.
I find that Balmain creates this fascinating balance between something macho but ever so complimenting to the female figure. Oh! Those studded heels!
And after seeing this magazine spread in Numéro, shot by Camilla Akrans, I want to dress like this everyday. So bring on the sparkles and the studs. I'd love to hear all about your style, so let me know!

no offense but make your posts have a little more substance; they are just not as fulfilling as those by HG & BG.
I disagree with the previous post. I think this post is just fine. It's definitely a different style than what "I am Fashion" normally looks at, but I like the change from couture dresses.
Love love LOVE that third Balmain outftit! =]
You write great! And make me NEED new clothes, though I just came home from shopping, that's a gift girl!

psssst - hot tip for all fashion photography lovers: www.photographerslimitededitions.com
I miss HG. I am Fashion has turned into I am Sleaze.
darling this was FABULOUS. you've got a great perspective on what looks good, and kudos on the inspiring pictures.
This post is great. I think I am Fashion was becoming slightly too conservative - insofar as if it deviated even slightly from the fashion mundane or sweet little dress,it was criticized. I think I am Fashion became popular when fashion was primarily dress and feminine focused, which I believe is more BG and HG's nature style. Fashion has definitely changed since then (with the arise of grunge and more masculine dressing) and it's refreshing to have a new voice that maybe represents more of the edgier trends of the moment. Not that I found anything wrong with BG and HG's postings. I still read and like the blog tons.
I agree the juxtaposition of ultra feminine with grunge is incredibly appealing. =)
"the arise of grunge?"
omg where have you been, we have been post-grunge for a good many years
grunge is so ovah at least in the culturally developed nations
I love all these looks,
that black dress is beautiful.
wow i love those looks!! i noticed that in many of the recent fashion shows theyre doing very viva el glam type of things! theres more examples on the luxuryspot.com !!! i like this look i really do.
I love the Balmain dress on the right in black. Since my fiance just bought me a diamond engagement ring from www.idonowidont.com I want a hot fashion dress for my wedding and I think that dress would take the cake.
I think this is a great post, I think that you are letting your hair down long may it continue
Anonymous 5:
Like, OMG!!! Grunge is like, so, like ovah, like, I need to get, like, ovah myself.
I have no idea whether grunge is over or not so it's not that bit that got to me, it was more the whole "cultually developed nations thing". I love how some poeple who live in the (economically)developed world say things like this, it's a fascinating insight into how their minds work.
Lots of iamfashion fan love,
Steph xx
Awesome site, love it. I just joined Gilt Groupe and love it so far. Great stuff, great prices. Free invites below

LOL anonymous 4/6, I didn't say "like"
I didn't appreciate your criticism of the original bloggers, saying they were "too conservative" and too into "the sweet little dress" so I obviously was taken aback by your posing as an expert on fashion trends by referring to the subsequent "arise of grunge" as you put it.
So, like, the comment was just dumb and disrespectful toward BG and HG. And I don't know if you noticed, but BG is still here, for which I, for one, am thankful.
I really, really love your style (At least according to the pictures you chose to put up) (Even more than BG's and HG's)
Really like the BCBG dress! & love your site!!
Hi, this is anonymous 6 responding to anonymous 8. Actually, I was making fun of anonymous 5's comment, not the post. But anyways, it's all good.

Waouh, I thought Balmain was a little old-fashioned but not at all, some clothes are amazing!
I LOVE this post! One of my fave posts, cause it just hit me, you know?:) This is how I want to dress, but not how I really dress tho. I'm more simple and clean (I'm Scandinavian...), but I really want to get me some more sparkle and studs!:))) This got me very inspired.
The black and white images are beautiful. I'm not too sure about those extended shoulder pads on the asymmetric jackets?
I absolutely love all of these looks. Fashion week is one of my favorite times of the year.
The other day I found some new designers and I loved this one I found called Ports 1961. Here's a link to some of the photos. http://laviecherie.com/Photo-Gallery/Ports-1961-At-Fashion-Week.aspx
That last pic is so sexy! Love this whole post and its sentiment. Balmain = heaven!

Wow...just wow. Kinda surprised at tempers flaring here...
My two cents - I think the thing about style is that you have something that sets you apart. If you imitate fashion, you might be trendy, but you lack your own style.
The same goes for writing. E has her own style and it supplements the existing style/culture of iamfashion well, imo.
If nothing else, she at least started an interesting conversation (except where it gets rude, dissent is a good thing people!) :)
wow. anger. i thought this post was great. the ballerina meets biker never gets old. keep up the great work hunny. x
she has her own style and her own cadre of commenters
this blog is so OVAH
Nice photos specially the two color ones. I really like with leather and steel one. Interesting combination sexy!!
I just want to say that I would sell my firstborn for that Balmain dress...that is all
The Dress by Balmain explains your entire blog entry to a T. The mix between the two complaments each other in a way that makes me want to go out and buy it today and wear it tomorrow.
I love everything that glitters but don't always have the money to get what I want. I recently found Elegant Mart online at http://www.elegegantmart.com and love their gowns AND prices.
i love love love..... who doesnt love flashy clothes like these especilly that dress by Balmain that is just gorgeouse... I WANT IT!
I agree i also love everything that glitters... but i have to say that theirs designers that take it over the top and some that apply it in a very flattering/tasteful matter just like your blog! :)
Finally! Someone who recognises that not all of us like to dress like little girls.
Bring on the black. And studs!
I think your post was just fine. You've commented on fashion, which is what most of us come here for.
If we wanted an update on the economic crisis, we'd go to a economic/political blog.
What I'm interested in is the clothes, accessories and how to put them all together.
This blog is my personal stylist - and I have gotten what I've come for!
P.S. That Balmain black mini dress is divine!
I think that you write brilliantly, and so do HG&BG, so ignore everyone else that is just jealous!
I wear feminine mixed with grunge as much as possible - i think that if you can pull it off, its sexy as hell.
I also agreed with the comment above mine!

Leather Jackets Online,
Men Leather Jackets
It was handmade for individuals, either as home production or on order from dressmakers and tailors. By the beginning of the 20th century—with the rise of new technologies such as the sewing machine, the rise of oil paintings for sale and the development of the factory system of production, and the proliferation of retail outlets such as department stores—clothing had increasingly come to be mass-produced in standard sizes and sold at fixed prices. Although the fashion industry developed first in Europe and America, today it is an international and highly globalized industry, with clothing often designed in one country, manufactured in another, and sold world-wide. For example, an American fashion company might source fabric in China and have the clothes manufactured in Vietnam, finished in Italy, and shipped to a warehouse in the United States for distribution to retail outlets internationally. The fashion industry has long been one of the largest employers in the United States, and it remains so in the 21st century. However, employment declined considerably as production increasingly moved overseas, especially to China. Because data on the fashion industry typically are reported for national economies and expressed in terms of the industry’s many separate oil paintings, aggregate figures for world production of textiles and clothing are difficult to obtain. However, by any measure, the industry accounts for a significant share of world economic output.
