Wear Jeans the FW06 Way

Everyone knows skinny jeans are THE thing to wear this season. But I still regularly talk to people who don't own skinny jeans, or don't completely know the way to wear it (this season). So here are the basics.

I'm loving black or/and grey skinny jeans. It seems that there are still quite a lot of people who only own blue jeans, (a reminensence of the late 90s.) So I've been actively persuading people that they should buy black/grey jeans. They look so much more effortlessly cool.

But of course, if you had the money to own multi-colour jeans, or you simply prefer blue, or just as an alternative, then blue jeans are great too, just as long as they're cut and fit really well. Also, with any skinny jeans, try to wear some heels, (any heels are better than no heels unless you're tall or skinny.)

Since it is fall/winter, tucking skinny jeans into long boots is a popular way of wearing them. Don't think I have to explain this.

Personally, I think the best way to wear skinny jeans is to pair them with long shirts or short shift dresses. Whichever long top you wear, it should end at the widest part of your hips. While Mary Kate doen'st exactly need the clothes to flatter her body, the way she wears long shirts in the two images above is the way to go. See how her shirts end at that perfect point at the hips? I've found it the most flattering and comfortable way to wear skinny jeans.

Since I'm short myself, I realise that skinny jeans aren't quite flattering for those who are not tall or actually have hips. So a way which you can still wear the style is to wear straight leg jeans. They have look cool like skinny jeans, but are less body-conscious. (See Lindsay's jeans.)

i think skinny jeans look great, but only on those who have the right body type...somehow i've never managed to find a pair that actually flatters me, so i substitute with straight legged black pants instead..but i also think how good you look in your clothes has a lot to do with confidence and how comfortable you are with your body, right?

I've been tempted to try skinny jeans but I've been a bit hesistant. It seems too trendy for me and I can't seem to find one that fits great what with my being short and all.
Nicole Richie in my opinion seems to rock them the best. :)

As a curvy girl, straight leg is about as good as it's going to get. And I 2nd the idea of going w/ gray or black; I definitely get a little sick of all my jeans being blue.

Is that Audrey Tatou in the 2nd picture with the flowers? I can't tell...

Ambika: Straight-leg jeans are wonderful. The girl holding the flowers is Ashley Olsen.

God im 5ft and it's just so hard to see tall and skinny girls wearing them and looking good and once i slip a pair of skinnies on my stubby legs it just looks hideous. I have ONE pair of skinnies and i only ever wear them tucked in boots. For me - FLARED is the way to go!

im not that tall too but i have a skinny body. i found that i look good in a pair of skinny jeans when i wear them with high heels (not as high as ashley's) or tuck into boots. but when i wear them with flat shoes, it will make me look even shorter...

im 5 ft tall, skinny body but with hips - i love my black straight-leg cords. yes, i do look shorter when i pair them with flats (duh) but you just cant beat the comfort they bring! and i tuck them into my Maud Frizon knee-high boots during winter... they look so so cool! =D

This is very good advice! But I'm waiting on a new jean shape I'm getting pretty tired of all the existing ones.

Nice blog this one! I also like black jeans but they are harder to find here because blue is more popular. At least nice looking black ones are hard to find, many plain pitch black jeans look boring. I recently made a small jeans fashion website: http://www.geocities.com/tightgjiia

I love the skinny jeans style and bought a pair of black skinny jeans these summer but did not realize how frumpy it looked until afterwards. I want to buy a red or purple pair now so do you have any suggestions how not to make the same mistake and where I can find a good pair of colouful jeans?

I don't have a perfect body but I think people including myself can still indulge in this trend simply by buying the size jeans that are not too tight and wearing the right length tunic (as mentioned).

I'm 5'3" and pretty curvy but I still rock the straight jeans and love them. I think they show off my hips and butt. Both of which I feel are excellent assets if you have them. Straight jeans make it possible for curvy girls to induldge in trends and cute fashion.

I'm a guy, who recently bought a pair of the grey skinny jeans for the first time. I really love the fit. But I'm having trouble deciding what to wear with them. Tunic tops aren't in major supply for guys except for maybe International Male catologs. But I have one brown one. lol Any other advice for men's skinny jeans fashion? Also, same rules for shoes for guys? lol

I'm 5 ft 2. I've got a pair of the dark blue skinny jeans from Abercrombie and Fitch. A + F women's jeans that will fit you perfectly! (Short, Regular and Tall)

I think tall girls and girls with hips look better in skinny jeans then girls without hips etc. It all depends on how that person wears them. If you know how to dress then there really shouldn't be an issue.

If anyone who actually has hips and are worried about how they would look in skinny jeans should go to Torrid-the J. Cavrrci (spelling excluded) skinny leg jeans, in all colors are AMAZING.

If you are a bit self conscious about shopping at Torrid, don't be! I'm a size 12 and they have that size and it just fits well over hips and thighs because it is made towards curvy women.

I own about 4 pairs and they look great with everything from boots to high heels

I own 3 pairs of Skinny Jeans and most of my Jeans and boyfit Jeans. I love skinny Jeans because you'll look more sexier and the sort of (rocker) vibe. I adore my Skinny Jeans. If you wish you can find in ralphlauren

I'm surprised the skinny jeans trend has been around for so long. I don't think it's going anywhere anytime soon.
