Diorskin AirFlash Spray Foundation

Flicking through the new Sephora magazine (I really love that magazine) I came across the latest Dior AirFlash Spray Foundation and thought- wow how cool is that?!? It reminded me of this spray make-up collection I saw in Paris and even then I thought it was really awesome.
Excited, the other day my friend and I each gave it a try. Here's a tip: don't wear any mascara before application and pull your hair back- seriously! It got onto my hair (making it hard, hairspray style) and onto my mascara (we had to put another layer on to fix it). Anyway, to get an even spray (I was concerned about this at first) the trick was to spray in a "Z" down your face and then a "W" across. Afterwards, they used a brush to blend in the uneven bits.

The effect was impressive. It blended beautifully with the skin and created a smooth translucent layer that even the skin tone and all. The only thing we would disagree with the product description at Sephora is that it did not diminish the appearance of skin irregularities. We felt that it actually emphasized the pores on our face. Maybe we should've put on some primer beforehand.......so I'm still considering it. Thoughts?

I ACTUALLY HAVE THAT!

I WEAR IT AT NGHT, FOR BIG PARTIES, CUZ ITS A PERFECT FOUNDATION FOR BIG MAKE UPS.. REALLY... IT DOENST GO AWAY EASILY ( I DO RECOMEND A PRIMER THOUGH) AND IT DOENST MAKE UR FACE LOOK LIKE A PANCAKE...
I APPLY IT A FEW INCHES AWAY FROM A SPONGE, AND THEN PAT THE SPONGE. THE EFFECT IS GREAT! TRY IT!

Since I started using Bare Essentials, it's been hard to be open minded about any other foundation. I love it!

This spray on foundation sounds like a good idea. It seems like it'd be quick-- and who wants to be in front of the mirror forever creating the illusion of perfect skin?! BUT, just from experience, I'm sure they only have about 2 shades for african american skin [LoL]; so I won't get my hopes up.

Plus, won't the base of the spray dry out your skin if it made your hair hard?! Interesting.

so much effort for foundation? I would be concerned with the application. Probably not too convenient for everyday use?

is this supposed to be like or better than the SK-II foundation?

Foundation is the one make up staple I have the most trouble with. My skin has larger pores, I'm prone to breakouts and my tone is uneven with lots of red patches. If anyone out there has found the magic foundation to even out a complexion like mine...please tell...BTW this sounds nice, but the spray dispensing might get messy (even if the results are nice).

The SKII one is better, but i think it will be more easy if you just spray some on ur hand first then apply with a sponge. I think it will give a better finish and look. Of course you can just spray directly, but i think its' more uneven that way, and less natural.
:)

I bought the spray foundation from MAC and I found that the best way to apply it evenly is to use the duo fibre brush: flat-topped, full circular brush.

I haven't actually tried the spray foundation, but I have read about them (both the Dior and SK-II ones) and I'm quite dubious about them because a review I read said that they felt quite heavy, which I hate.
Windwhisperer, you should try Dior Purelight, I have skin with kind of visible pores and I have quite sensitive skin which means I break out with bad products, but it is really good- it just looks amazing and is quite light, but covers uneven spots so give it a try. I just went to one of the department stores here and got them to put it on my face, tried it out for a day and then bought it, maybe do that- get them to put it on for you. Hope that helps.

No no no don't choose the dior one, take shiseidos instead, it's so much better! Dior just emphasize all your (as you said) bad skin attributes and i found that shiseidos is much easier to spray on and handle and it gives a good result that actually lasts very long also....

But dior's oki too

SO,

THE BEST FOUNDATION I´VE EVER HAD IS FROM SHISHEIDO. TRY IT ON THE BASE OF UR CHEEKBONES TO GET THE RIOGHT COLOR. IF U R USED TO GETTING SOME SUN, THEN BUY A SHADE DARKER....

I liked it. But it covers your eyebrows too and you have to go over and fix them... too much work for just foundation so apply with a brush or your fingers.

When they use spray foundation on tv, they always spray on a foam wedge first and then apply. this seems to make it just as difficult to use as any other kind of foundation, IMHO. I used to shell out $$ for Prescriptives foundation. Theirs is very good, but I found that some of the drugstore brands are even better. For the gal looking for a solution for difficult skin -- I had blemish-prone skin with a lot of red from using Proactiv (waaaay to harsh!). I started using a gentle cleanser and a good BHA exfoliant instead, and shazam, my skin was 100 times better. Now I can just use a tinted moisturizer (I like Neutrogena's Healthy Skin Enhancer) for day or for night (or really long days!) I use Revlon's ColorStay Active. The ColorStay sets fast, so you have to be quick, but it won't budge. And for 6-10 USD (and good return policies so you can find the right color), I don't think I'll ever go back to overpriced department store makeup.

I think this is the same used on the make over shows...but they spray it into a sponge, not directly onto the face.

I started using the Dior foundation and although pricey it is the best I have found, now for practicalities, I spray it on (no need to use a sponge) without any make up on (small detail, I put a shower cap on my heard to ensure that my hair does not get sticky ;-)and cover my clothes as well. I have found this foundation to be very good, although I do not have a very problematic skin apart from uneven patches and thought that it covers them very well. The only downside is that the bottle finishes way too fast (I used it everyday at first, I have now slowed down and only use it for special occasions) and it is expensive but I am addicted. I have not tried any of the others indicated so could not comment.

I absolutely LOVE the foundation spray. I actually find myself hoping it is selling well because if Dior stopped production I don't know what I'd do. Once I got used to the right pressure and spray pattern to apply the foundation there's nothing better. It does not take much to get the proper look - maybe three to four seconds (3 - 4) and it can be done with controlled placement if you want. It feels as thought the spray goes quickly because as compared to liquid foundation it does but I have at least a week left in my spray and I started using it between October 28th and November 1st. (I can tell when the order came in). It really takes very little for that perfect, flawless look. I use my two fingers to smooth it around just about around the edges or provide a spritz here or there if needed but otherwise it's effortless. I say that knowing my skin color needs evening but I don't break out anymore because I am 50. I also live in 90 degree heat in Florida and it lasts all day. I only wrote this comment b/c I'm about to order another one for when this one stops. Use a primer - I can't pick which one of these two but the best are Spackle and Paula Dorf without a doubt. I've tried at least 10 of them from very good lines. I had been searching for the best primer because a primer is absolutely essential!!! before your foundation, though often ignored.

Try it you'll love it.

i have the sk-II
it works really well, i love it!
you have to put on your base foundation, eyeliner, eyeshadow on before you put on the spray.
then wait a minute for the new foundation to dry then, you put on your mascara and lipstick.
i love it because it doesnt attract to hair and stuff, so you cant get it in your hair and stuff.
while i love it, it is cost SO much money for refills,
and i dont live anywhere near the places they sell the refills, so i can't use it anymore :(
so i was gonna try the dior one...
but im not sure how to apply it, or how well it works.
any suggestions?

You are supposed to put this on with a brush. Or so the cosemetic guy at the Dior counter at Saks said. You spray it on your brush and apply with round strokes on your face. My skin has never looked so amazing. He said it can get cakey and you waste alot if you just spray it on your face!

This is the best foundation I've ever used. You can also spray it on their makeup brush and apply. It gets almost the same effect.
