Random conversation I overheard:
Parisian Designer: I got these really cheap for $20 in New York! Aren't they wonderful? So comfortable!
Brazilian Model: Yes they're awesome! And they're even cheaper in Brazil! They're just a few dollars.

I know Havaianas have been around forever and all the celebrities have been spotted wearing it, but I STILL don't understand what so great about these special brazilian brand of flip flops!
I've looked at it from many different angles and I STILL cannot differentiate between a pair of Havaianas and a normal pair of flip flops-besides the words "Havaianas" ofcourse (and the funky graphics courtesy of www.havaianas.com). Don't get me wrong, they're perfect for the beach, I esp love the extra height it gives u. I just don't get what all this fuss I've been hearing is all about! Do enlighten me.

Havianas are probably the most comfortable flip flops around, and i have had a lot of flip flops. Apparently its the rubber they use which is really spongey and soft. Its like walking on air. i have two pairs, in white and black. I may never go back to another flipflop again.
I wore my boyfriend's pair of Havaianas once and the rubber strap rubbed a blister on my foot.
I really don't see what's so speacial about them, but I guess I can't give a true opinion until I've tried them on in real life.
It's the comfort factor that makes them so good. They're nothing special to look at but the rubber moulds to your feet to make them so comfy you hardly know you're wearing flip-flops...and they last for ages. Also, the prints don't wear off the first time you wear them.
If you decide to give them a go igapost.com is the best stockist I've found.
The graphics alone make me want a pair.
I agree with the overhype. Anyway, the most comfy flip flop I've tried is from Aussie surf brand Reef. The one I bought have a soft rubbery sole that fits the contour of your foot and the design too is better than Havaianas.
Oooh, yes, Reefs are amazing! I've had one of my pairs for more than five years, and they keep getting more comfortable. I've made people dive off of sailboats on more than one occasion to retrieve one that went overboard. My other faves are brown leather Rainbows--total preppy staple. They're the sandal version of boat shoes. I don't get the big deal about Havaianas. They're just rubber flip flops, nothing too special, but I suppose if you can get them cheaply they're as good as any.
i have a pair, the "hibisco"... i just love them.. m a flip-flops fanatic!!! m from the phils and we call our flip-flops "tsinelas". :)
BTW, if anyone cares, they have some pretty basic colors on sale (2 for $20) at Urban Outfitters.
Havianas have been around in Australia forever!! and we've been wearing them for years!! theyre just so comfy and easy to wear..like with jeans or skirts or anything we have the flat ones, not the ones with a wedge sorta... but yeah they're awsum i dont no anyone of my friends who dont own havianas!!!

Havaianas are now on sale for prices up to 80 times what they cost to produce in sweatshops in Northern Brazil. Feel good about paying that much to profiteering middle-men? If you think they are the only soft flip-flop or that they're so much different or better than most other flip-flops you obviously won't understand what all the REAL fuss about Havainanas is about....
