SS06 Fashion Trend: Suspenders/ Braces
Apart from the trend of dungaree dresses, suspenders have been seen on the runway and in shops. The normal way of wearing is like as seen on the Luella SS06 runway above: a pair of suspenders clipped onto the pants. I really have to say ugh to this trend. It's just so... 90s? Actually I have no idea when suspenders were last in fashion, but suspenders only remind me of those potbelly, middle-aged detectives one would see in TV or read in books.
However, I have to say, the only reason why I am writing about them at all is because they did look wicked cool in the Marc by Marc Jacobs show. Maybe it's because the suspender looked like another layer on top of the many other layers of clothes on the model. Or maybe it's because the belt is only on one side of the model, so the asymmetricalness adds randomness to the outfit, thus making the outfit funkier.
OK, my point is this: I don't like suspenders. Unless you manage to carry them off like a model could and look really good in them, then don't waste your money! There are definately prettier trendy accessories you could spend your money on.

I wonder when suspenders will make another return visit? It seems to be that they were fashionable in the early seventies, but I could be wrong...
:)
the only thing worse than a pair of suspenders is ONE suspender!!! omg, that is just WRONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Suspenders.......PASS! ick....
it seems they come back every few years, im still not a fan
I know this old overweight guy who has to wear suspenders to actually hold up his pants and thats all i can think about when i see this! haha-- i think ill pass on that:-P
They actually do look cool in the MJ and Luella shows...but I can't see anyone wearing those in real life.
i don't see anything horrible about it. and the one suspender does accent the above outfit really well. if you aren't a fatty, you can defenetly sport the suspenders-you just have to be very fashionable to pull the look off. i enjoy a challenge:)
it can look danm cool or danm cute when wear properly
I´ve been wearing suspenders for about two years now and still enjoy wearing them. Jennifer
Suspenders can be very sleek, if worn correctly. Most men look fine with them on (what's with all the visions of overweight men? -_-).
The thing with fashion is that not everyone is going to look good in something. Maybe it's their face, or their physical appearance, or the other clothes they're wearing is not complementing a look they're trying to pull off.
The more complex the style, the more difficult it is to pull it off. Suspenders won't look great on everyone, not like your generic tees + shorts combos do on an average joe, for instance.
I'm going to get myself a pair of suspenders this Sunday, actually. School formal coming up in December.
Ok i loooooooovvvvvvveeeeee suspenders but only having 1 looks ridiculous !
Matt Smith, the new Dr Who, is reported to have chosen braces for his outfit. If this is true, I reckon he is going to be loved by the manufacturers because he looks gorgeous in them! Hopefully, this will erase guys embarrassment, which in my humble view is unfounded.
Wow, there is really much useful data here!
