FW06 Trend: Bags With Shoulder Straps
Both of Miuccia Prada's brands are notable sellers of this shoulder strap trend. Prada had loads. However, I do love the trend in Miu Miu more. Maybe it's because Miu Miu bags feel more youthful and chic (to me at least,) and I relate shoulder straps to the younger generation.
The Miu Miu Napa Coffer bag was the number one winner in the fall season. Loads of celebs were seen holding it, and when I visited Miu Miu stores, they were completely sold out!
But the Miu Miu bag I really loved this season (but unfortunately didn't buy) was this gorgeous satchel. Seriously, the leather type changes from the top to bottom, and the leather bows at the side are SO cute. Barney's Girl has this in normal leather and it reminds me of a cute, girly version of the Balenciga Motorcycle bag.
Miu Miu Spring Napa Satchel -Not as cute, but looks like a practical and vintage-looking sort of bag. Sigh, I do so love Miu Miu bags...
Louis Vuitton's Adele has two trends in one: the chains and strap. I'm not really loving the plastic-looking chains though.
Balenciaga's Motorcycle bags -the First (left) and the City (right.) I love these Balenciaga bags. For a leather bag, they're really light, plus you could fit loads of stuff into the bag. I love the stylish edge Balenciaga bags give to one's outfits. (I may be biased though because the red City is my FW06 bag.)
Chloe bags, oddly enough, added shoulder straps to some of their bags too. Paddington satchel (left) and Tekla shoulder bag (right).
As most trends go, this trend trickled down to the high-street bags too, such as these two from Urban Outfitters.

god i'm sorry. i'm a regular reader but seriously it's becoming more and more apparent what amateurs you two are. with a complete lack of style and basic fashion knowledge or grasp of trends. this entry is just another one of those examples.
You left out my favorite one for this season, and the only one I'd consider worth buying into for this trend... the new Lanvin Kansas Tote!

Those Miu Miu bags are the best of the bunch. The Balenciaga leather looks too shiny (patent leather seems a little trashy to me); but the Miu Miu leather looks so genuine and quality.
wow i love the first miu miu bag! i'm actually looking for a new bag, i was thinking of a white or creamish leather, but they're hard to come by i think. do you know any brands? (not too expensive)

Alana: I'm not actually sure what's the difference. In my mind, I just think satchels as the bulkier bags we hang near the elbows, and totes as the flatter ones.
Q: I don't actually think the Balenciaga motorcycles are made of patent leather, (but I'm not totally sure either.)
Pdt princess: Waterproof boots, find ones made of patent leather or get actual raining boots, I guess?

For some reason the post I made a few days ago didn't go up, so now I have more things to talk about!I love reading your posts just to get an alternate perspective. I only just found the site recently, and have been feeding it.
AFAIK, a tote is a larger, unsupported bag. Most satchels are smaller, and have re-enforced bottoms.
Also, one could say that totes do not have pockets, but this is not a hard and fast rule, I'e seen many tottes that are divided.
In this case, I love leather as a material, and the tote is great! I totally agree the Miu Miu satchel is lovely, and I want one for myself (reminds me of the classic Oxfordian or an Indiana Jones movie. Prolly the natural brown leather color).
But bigger totes are not the answer people! Large unsightly floppy bags are not attractive. I'm sorry, I've hated them for years.
Prada is continuing to disappoint me. I loed the classic minimalist Prada. The more flaps, fringer, and whatever is moer to get caught in doors, grabbed by jerks, or whatever. Black is nice, but in leather, gets scuffed easily. This doesn't have the 'glamor' feel to is.
The Balenciaga is OK, but... I dunno. At least for my wardrobe, I find find the red leather to not match with many of the things I'm wearing. I tend to prefer blues and greens.
