Guilty Pleasures

Having had a stressful few weeks, I decided to treat myself to a day of guilty pleasures.
  1. My top guilty pleasure is sleep. And by that I don't mean the usual 8 hours. I mean sleeping for however long and whenever I want. See, I'm not a morning person. Hence I never feel like waking up in the morning. So this morning (afternoon), I woke up late. And then I went for guilty pleasure number 2......
  2. Romance novels. I find the newer novels these days to be much too formulaic and tedious to go through to find a good one. Hence I love reading the old ones that I know are good. The classics never get boring. They are all the same anyway, its just the quality of the writing that differs. Besides, all I'm looking for is a happy ending to escape from the real world. One of my all time favourites is Jill Mansell's, Miranda's Big Mistake. Its super sweet. Mansell is generally pretty good, though I can't say much for her newer books......And while I was reading by the window next to the warm sunlight, I indulged myself some more and rest my eyes whenever I need to.
  3. Next on my list is endless hours of mindless TV shows. These days I watch just about anything, Greys Anatomy, Samantha Who, Gossip Girl (love it), ANTM etc. But my ultimate favourite is still the chic lives of the girls on Sex and the City. I can never get bored of them. They are classic!
  4. And we must not forget nourishment. Guilty pleasure number four: eating ice cream out of the carton. Then you can really eat as much as you want. And the ultimate pleasure of all? Sleep after you eat. I know that it is highly not recommend it. But succumbing to food coma is just the best thing I can imagine. Even if you cannot sleep for the rest of the night after....
  5. But thats ok, because then you can indulge in guilty pleasure number 5: talking on the phone with an old friend and going down memory lane- for hours. 4 hrs and 5 minutes to be exact. There is no path better than memory lane. Now I really want to read all those Christopher Pike books I loved to read when I was 13...... especially Starlight Crystal. Its about this girl who falls in love with this guy but a few days later she had to go on a spaceship that is designed to be a time capsule that observes human evolution over time. And then something goes wrong and there is this huge time warp and....I just remember it being more cool than it sounds now.
  6. Staring into space and letting your mind wander...and closing your eyes for a few minutes whenever you like. Especially nice if you have a nice view or a clear sky to stare at.
  7. And the last of my guilty pleasures? List making. I love list making. I make lists about everything (observe this blog). And diary writing. It really keeps track of your thoughts and clears your head up. Besides- its awfully entertaining to read a year later....especially if you make interesting lists, like new years resolutions and checklists... I highly recommend it.
And this is my list of guilty pleasures I like to indulge in on my "me" time. What are your guilty pleasures?

i agree with every point on your list! except my problem is i tend to do most of those (especially sleeping in and the mindless tv) when i should be studying!

and definately agree with the lists.. great way to convince yourself you're doing something useful, when you are, in fact, procrastinating :)

Hey Barneys Girl,
My guitly pleasures include...
-sleeping. I love sleeping in/sleeping in general. It's just so cosy and peaceful and relaxing. I hate sleeping on planes - is the total opposite!
-Gossip girl (the books and the TV show - double joy!)
-day-dreaming about endless future possibilities (very few of which ever eventuate...but it's still fun.)

Starbucks, shopping, reading Vogue front to back, extra long gym sessions, watching the style network, sleeping in (but not too much b/c then I feel like I have wasted the day and it is no longer luxurious).

one word... FACEBOOK!
its sad but true. going through random peoples profiles and looking at tons of pictures of people you've never met, or people you know. either way is juicy....

what else... flipping through magazines while drinking starbucks. going on celebrity gossip sites and checking out what theyre wearing. I dont care about the gossip, i just like looking at what they wear. :)

wow, I loved Christopher Pike when I was a teen. I should re-read some of his books for old times sake.

My guilty pleasures sound a lot like yours, except I crunch on sourdough pretzels instead of eating ice cream. :) Oh, and I love chick lit.

I have a few which are:
Manicure pedicure even if its too soon to get one.. eeks! so that I can relax with the spa chair super comfy and reading people or style magazine while "zoning"...

next one is shopping, skipping sales racks and just going straight to the cute irresistable stuff

chocolate, well yes its almost the most worst weakness I have

and last but not least, naps, like anytime I just want to do nothing and take in some channel surfing before drifting off to see Mr. Sandman..

I like to call my 7 guilty pleasures my seven deadly sins:

1. Spacing out, and going as slow as possible: I usually have NO patience whatsoever, but when I space out or go uber slow everyone has to wait.

2. Reading gossip magazines: Star, People, OK, US weekly; I devour all these titles in one sitting.

3. Going on the computer when I'm supposed to be doing homework: Just like now, blogging simply can not wait!

4. Starting blogs: I have started numerous blogs in different places. None with the same name. Guess you'll never know, huh?

5. Not eating lunch but eating the snacks that I packed instead. Oops!

6. Role playing. If I'm typing up an essay I'll pretend I'm a secretary, it keeps my mind on edge. And is rather Blair Waldorf-ish in a way.

7. Reading! I love to read Cecily Von Zeigsar and Zoey Dean. They're like gossip magazines!

dipping sweet biscuits in my latte while wathing tv..

Any girl loves her guilty pleasures. A day of them here and there is mandatory. My guilty pleasures are sleep, marathons of any of my favorite TV show, Funfetti cake baked out of the box. All is usually done wearing oversized totally unflattering sweats. I should look into the romance novel side of guilty pleasures cause I have never read one. I also love organizing and writing in my planner in color assorted pens! LOL Any girl can relate to any guilty pleasures. It is our stress relief or way to clear our minds. We can always continue our regular day of things tomorrow.

What's more, one thing continues as before for each undergrad; classes are costly. For a few, this is not an issue. Grants and their very own funds permit a few understudies to set off for college whenever without agonizing over cash. Check Cashing San-diego
