Paris Fashion Week F/W08 Wrapup I
This is why Paris Fashion Week is THE fashion week I look foward to the most. I mean, if I'm not going to be able to afford anything on the runway, I might as well ogle at the most creative and gorgeous collections, starting with Balenciaga.
Genius. Seriously genius. Once again, Nicholas Ghesquiere used Balenciaga's history and created a very modern collection. The clothes all look very structured yet still so sensual.

The show started off with minimal, well-cut and structured evening dresses. Take note of the shoes: pointy shoes are back! Is the trend with round-toed shoes soon to be over?.jpg)
These are the more work-suit looks. I hope those tulip skirts become part of the mainstream trends, (and hopefully high street retailers will be 'inspired' to make affordable versions!).jpg)

The velvet top with skinny pants/ skirt combo seemed to be a huge favourite. I love how pretty the colourful tops are. And the black & white velvet top look is just amazing with the black eye makeup! Seriously loves it!.jpg)
The show closed with printed coats and dresses. While I can appreciate how these artistic pieces form part of the collection, I have to say I'm not a huge fan of the coats. For example, the coat on the left makes the model look like she's got a muscular costume on.Can't wait for more Paris fashion! Did you love the Balenciaga show too?

LOVED it... especially the gold metallic dress and the black & white velvet top look.
Viktor & Rolf... whole different story. what the? it's like they try to out-gimmick themselves every season. not feeling it.
WOW, those evening dresses (from the first pics) are genius! Its something new, but still very aesthetically pleasing (thats rare)!
I'm not much of a fan of jersey looking draped things (because they're usually skin tight hard to wear), but those colored velvet tops are just to die for!
I LOVE the black top/cigarette pants combination. Most outfits on the runway are fun to look at, but soo unrealistic to wear. The black top outfit I could actually see myself wearing, and the top is just so unique. Love it!
People sometimes can insult Balenciaga but they just don't see the vision. The colours, the visual feast, the things you can take from it. Yea I loved B's show. Thr metalic tops were fab.
I'm adding this blog to favorites.
I don't know what the trends are where you're from, but pointy-toed shoes are extremely fashionable here in the states.
"wrap-up" is an excellent title for this collection
I personally find that the proportions of Balenciaga are cut only for the tall skinny types -- their clothes even in the average 4-8 sizes just don't take on the same shape as they do in the runways. However, I do love the illusion of the graphic inlays on some of these dresses and tops.
But I usually pore over these runway pictures to drool over shoes. In that respect, this collection definitely won me over :)
I love the show. The structured shapes of the dresses and especially the shirts had me salivating. I have not been impressed with an entire show yet and they impressed me with every item.
I loved it.
I was at the Balenciaga show this year, thanks to a happy twist, and I stepped out of the show (even more) in love with Balenciaga's vision than ever before.

I don´t like Balenciaga at all. Sorry to say. Hate the masculinity in their dresses.
