Lanvin Flats

When the Lanvin flats became a hit back a year or so back, with people like Nicole Richie, wearing it everywhere in different colors, I did not see the attraction. They honestly did not look any different from standard flats and I did not see where the $500USD price tag came from. They don't even have heels!
Out of curiosity though, I tried on a pair of red patent Lanvin flats (similar to the one above) the other day at Barneys- and I think I'm finally understanding where the price tag comes from. Even though it is about as thin as any other flats, they are REALLY comfortable. Like amazingly so. Seriously. I noticed the difference right after I tried it on. The sole was cushiony- like sneakers! I don't know how they do it. Even in patent leather, the scrunchy thing is super soft. Now I know what all the rave was about.

Still though, the price is a bit steep for flats. Maybe if they were $300.

Interesting how the all around stretch can make them more comfortable when walking, I guess it's because the shoe doesn't move while your walking like with regular flats.

i wonder how comfortable the stretchy ruched bit around the heel gets afer a while, though..i have a similar pair but after wearing them for a few hours, the stretchy part really started digging into my heels..has anyone else had this problem?

I love flats but they vary by brands and the shape of individual's feet. For me, I swear by Tod's and Chanel but can't stand Dior and Sergio Rossi flats. Lanvin flats look really adorable, I think I will go find a pair to try on. Ruch detail can be a potential problem but I am going to keep my fingers cross.

I actually own a pair of these in patent leather green, and will be the first to vouch for their super comfiness and cuteness! But yeah you guys are right they are REALLY pricy and not worth the cash (although they were a birthday present).. Better off getting some other just-as-cute or cuter flats for somewhere around 100 bucks..sans the super duper comfiness

I love how Nicole Richie looks with flats on, especially the coor. And that's probably the magic of the flats, that they are so comfortable.

love these. I bought gap knockoffs over a year ago, and I've worn them to death, even though I'm quite certain they aren't as comfy as the real thing.

Maybe these flats are very comfortable, but 500$ is too much...If I see a girl wearing them I wouldn't think they are so worth money!!!

These flats are amazing, The only place I've seen them @ here in austin is at By George at 6th & Lamar. They have quite a selection. Actually this is probably the best place to go in Austin for shoes, they also have some hot ones from Martine Sitbon, Chloe, and even those killer Proenza Schouler studded wonders.

Yes, $500 is a LOT for flats, but I also went to Barney's and tried them on and fell in love. Very tempted to purchase them.... very very tempted! Thanks for introducing them to me-- now I'm gonna try to convince myself not to get them LOL.

ON SALE AT BARNEYS! They have a couple of different styles of the Lanvin ballet flats on sale now. I got green ones with python trim (pic on my blog). I had to tell you because I never knew who made the cute ballet flats Nicole Richie wears until your post. I've never paid so much for shoes, but they were on sale!, so that makes it ok, right?

Hey Girls,
I just got 2 pairs the metallised bronze and the patent black.
Found that the elastic at the back of flat is tight and marking the back of my heel. Is this normal? Would it eventually stretch out? Please advise!
p.s. the front is super comfy.

I got my first pair of Lanvin flats a year ago after I kept hearing Natalie Portman rave about them everywhere. I have to say that they are the super shoe. They've had an extremely long life, and I consider them my comfort shoe.

I think this blog is pretty cool. I'm starting one up about designer footwear only.

BUYER BEWARE! i paid over $500 for a pair of black patent lanvin flats back in november. i have lovingly cared for them and not worn them much, esp not in rain, snow, etc. now less than two months later, they are tearing where the leather meets the sole!!!!!!!!! the patent leather is tearing and coming off from the leather. it looks hideous and i can't believe i wasted 500 bucks on shoes that are falling apart in less than two months!

Here's the tip for the problem with the heel hurting your foot after wearing for a while...
Foot Petals makes a heel cushion that lifts the foot just enough to get past that tender spot on the heel. I've had no problem since I started using the foot petals.
