Ipod Classic Cases

When it comes to music players, I'm not exactly the most up to date girl around. My music players never break. My Sony MD player from back in the days when people knew what MDs were, still works. And thus, as the world moved on with colored screens, nanos, videos and touches, I was still using my ipod mini v2, with its measly 6GBs and black/white screen. After 3 years though, the battery in my mini finally showed signs of giving up and I can finally get a new one. After much debate between the pink nano (cute and adorable!) and the classic ipod (the itouch is too big, if I was going to get that, I might as well get an iphone....), I settled on the classic, figuring that I can outfit it however way I want- thus this post.
My first thought was just to get a regular silicon plastic case like the one I had for my mini-except maybe this time I'd be more "adventurous" and try a colored case instead, like these ones above. It comes in packs of three and I love ALL the colors in the packet- I can literally help my ipod change clothes like a Barbie!
But then, just as I was about to grab them and leave, this retro pink acrylic case caught my eye. A few days before, I wasn't even aware that ipod cases came in acrylic, until I saw my colleague's ipod encased in them. But then I thought, maybe it was time to try something new and fun, and this was definitely it. And that was how I ended up with this case. Once I got home, I googled up the reviews and concerns were raised. Apparently these acrylic cases don't exactly fit like a glove and will potentially scratch the very pretty, currently scratch free and pristine surface of my new ipod. The want to protect and keep it as clean and new as possible arose, but was quickly squashed by my mom's voice in my head going, "if you're not going to use it because you're worried it'll get dirty, then don't buy it." Words from a wise lady indeed. You might wonder why I didn't choose a gorgeous designer ipod case or one of those super cute ones that keep on popping up on Shiny Shiny- I'm of the opinion that designer ipod cases are unnecessary and that an ipod should look like an ipod and not disguised as a fluffy stuff toy. One ipod case I DID like from Shiny Shiny though, are these Griffin Reflect cases. They're basically mirrors encasing an ipod and when your screen it turned off, it too becomes an reflective surface! Perfect to double as vanity mirrors on the go!

What does everyone else use?

i dont. im pretty satisfied with my basic black, 5th generation ipod. black goes with everything, i dont have to worry about scratching it when fussing around with cases, many of which i think can look a bit tacky, and i just use the thin black ipod cover to protect it.

id suggest buy an ipod in your favourite colour, and leave it be. i think they look best un-modified.

my only exception would be getting it customised somewhere like nyc peach, although im not sure if they're still in business.

i just read about some covers by miniot from another blog - http://amacordlife.blogspot.com. They seem pretty cool. But pretty expensive at 80 euros.

I use a clear "stick-on" one. It basically just acts as a clear shield. They also have them available in different designs.

I use a DC incase folio. It provides the ultimate protection for my red v2 ipod nano, which means it pretty much hides the beautiful red colour, but I'm okay with that. In the end, I'm listening to music, not gazing at my ipod. Not a single mark, and I've had it for two years.

i'm currently using my pink silicon case for my video ipod; its the easiest way to go, and you could buy them in a pack to switch thre colors whenever you want!

i also have a cute case for it that kinda looks like a mini purse that i got as a gift from my dad. i just switch between the two depending on my mood :)

i have a neoprene case by incase. all the cases by incase are great and are of great quality.
i'm not a fan of the silicon cases though b/c they get covered in lint very quickly.

also, i would think twice about those griffin reflect cases b/c they'll get scratched and later foggy just like the ipod back gets without a case.

I use those iPod socks. They seem kind of overpriced at $30 for 6 of them (and you have to buy them in a package of 6) but they turned out to be a really good buy. They're really easy to slip on and off and protect my iPod really well. Plus, I use the 5 other socks for other electronics like my camera, and when I get bored with the colors, I just switch it up! Definately something to consider!

Try this:

Lots of styles to choose from, all by reputable artists. Needless to say, my favorite is Jeremiah Ketner.

They're also available for Lap tops, you can read my post about them here:

If you want a super cute Ipod cover that will protect your Ipod from scratches, etc but will allow it to still fit in the dock and not add bulk, check out www.musicskins.com. These are vinyl covers that don't leave any residue and you can change as often as you'd like. I really like the art ones, and I've heard they are getting more and more of the music artists too.

Great article. There's a lot of benevolent info here, though I did poorness to let you fuck something - I am spouting Redhat with the circulating chenopodiaceae of Firefox, and the layout of your diary is forgiving of unconventional for me. I can read the articles, but the guidance doesn't use so outstanding.
