Tom Ford: Estee Lauder Summer 2006

Tom Ford's Estee Lauder summer 2006 collection has been out for a while, but I only recently had time to go check it out and luckily it was still there! (I'd missed the last collection and I heard there was a waiting list)

I'm not sure what I was expecting from the King of sexy fashion when it comes to make-up, but it was certainly something more spectacular than this. The Azuree collection (and everything else) is all very neutral with black shadows lining the lids (the only thing that would show up)-boring.
This collection was so similar that I had trouble telling the subtle difference between this Cap Bronzee collection and the Azuree one above (esp when its not shown side by side like this). Out of all three, this St Tropez collection is my favourite, because I think it'll actually show up on my face. Plus, I love the pinkish purplish tinge of the eye shadow and the icy pink color of the lipstick. I know being natural and bronze is all the rage this summer, but this is Tom Ford we are talking about. What he does should be more spectacular and fabulous than the rest of the fashion industry, shouldn't it? Am I just putting him on a pedestal and expecting too much? Or does he just have nothing to do with this collection and he's only "lending" his name out to Estee Lauder so the collection will sell like birkins?

Hi Ladies,
I am doing some back-to-school shopping and having NO luck with respectable t-shirts. Can you help me find some? I have been wearing the Old navy perfect fit v-necks because the cut is decent and the price is right, but they lose their shape and don't last. Can you help me find some that come in an XL and aren't 100% cotton so they keep their shape? Thanks!

It isn't anything spectacular, but I still like it. The pale blue is a really nice colour, and the packaging is simple and cute. It'd be perfect for me as I only ever wear neutrals anyway.

I usually don't wear makeup (except for mascara occasionally and concealer if I'm having an ugly day) and when I do I want it to be something really different. I like bold colors and shimmer. So this is something I would never buy.

I think the first set with the coral lipstick and charcoal shadow is very nice indeed. There's a science to creating the perfect subtle shades that look sophisticated rather than cheap. These shades look warm and rich without going over the top. I say, "Bravo!"

...and depending on one's complexion, I think they all look very gorgeous. I certainly wouldn't want to spend what these cost for crayon colors.... A designer exercising tasteful restraint? Wonders never cease....

Agree with Paz, his sunglasses collection was awesome. This make-up collection's nothing special.
Hopefully his 'Black Orchid' perfume (starring Julia Restoin Roitfeld) will re-instate that pedestal. I blogged about it a while ago, and can't wait to smell it when it's finally released to the public.

I like the last set, I think they are all very neutral colors and I guess they were trying to appeal to a mass audience. That's kool. I'm not impressed with the packaging, which is what I like the most when it comes to high end cosmetics.

Although it's not "WOW IN YOUR FACE," I do like the color palette. It's very classy and you can keep these colors for a long time. I also adore the packaging...the light robin's egg color reminds me of Tiffany's or something. Since when did being classic become a bad thing? If Tom Ford was flashy all the time, then it would be rather tacky, don't you think?
