Rubber Sandals

This season there seems to be a revival of the rubber sandals (actually, were they ever alive?).

Mostly thanks to Marc by Marc Jacobs and these rubber flats and gladiator sandals. Flats and gladiator sandals are fine, but plastic?? Please! They look like toy shoes (although I think even barbie has nicer shoes than these). Granted at $95 they are the cheapest Marc by MJ shoes one can find at full price, its so not worth it.

To make it worst, the high street stores, like Urban Outfitters above, have started making them at even lower prices. What a coup this "trend" must be for the fashion industry, to be able to sell rubber shoes that probably costs less than 50C to make at $95 (for m by mj) and $16 (for UO).

Please. Keep the rubber sandals to the beach!

i had jellies when i was a kid and i loved them. but they made my feet sweat and felt all squishy. i think making them for ppls older than 5 should be illegal.

Actually, I am quite in favor of the new rubber trend. I think they give are a fresh and funky touch. Also, they are an excellent alternative to leather.

Ew, wouldn't rubber be terribly uncomfortable to wear, esp in hot weather?

I was desperate to own jelly shoes when I was 8. I think I got a pair of platform jellies and even at 8 I realised that they make your feet reek. I'd imagine the cheaper ones would chafe, too.

I actually saw the gladiator MJ shoes in DSW. They look really cute when they are on, but I still hate that material.

The MJ shoes I think are really cute, but impratical. Won't it get all hot and sweaty and sticky?

These photos don't look like cheap shoes at all... One might even confuse them for luxury goods.
