Swimwear Trends 06

As those of you who have read this blog for a while will know, we've never written about swimwear trend. Mostly because we are not that fond of the beach, swimming or tanning. But due to much demand on swimwear 06 trends, I did a little digging, and here is what I've come up with:

Rings. They are hot on swimsuits everywhere. They are simple and they give swimsuits just the right twist to make it interesting. I adore these ones from BCBG, especially the bronze one. My friend got one and it looks awesome. The metallic shiny material is so unique (note: metallic shiny materials are hot on swimwear this season too)! The last time I checked they were about half off, so go check it out!

Another play on the ring are these by Lisa Curran. It is genius how she manages to make both look sophisticated and sexy. Loves it! As you can see here (and in the next few pics), this kind of halter string bandeau style is also very trendy.

Since we're talking about trends, one must not forget the nautical look that is so very hot this season. And where better to go for the nautical look than Ralph Lauren (right)? It is even in the bandeau halter style. Match it up with red bottoms (as in the Free People set on the left) for the complete nautical look!

For the bandeau halter thing, a great buy would be this purple dotti patterned one from Urban Outfitters, because of its versatility. It can be both a stylish halter and a tube top with a pretty bow!

For something more sophisticated and elegant, I love Michael Kor's selection. The black bandeau halter a la Chanel is tres chic and the white printed one piece suit is elegant yet sexy.
Lastly, there are these very unique swimwear recommended by reader, Hayden, from Stephanie Hoos. I like this collection because I like the pastel colors and the unique designs. But frankly, some of the designs are so unique that it is not quite flattering. For example, the purple suit on the right makes the model's body look shapeless.

At the end of the day, I think that the most important thing about swimsuits is that it fits and flatters your body. Have fun with these and don't forget to apply sunscreen!

i have never understood why most people would not be seen in public in something called "underwear" or "skimpy bra and panties" but if you call it a "swimsuit" then it's perfecty fine...whatever happened to a rose by any other name?

Yeah, the last two definately aren't flattering...Especially the one on the left. You'd really need to be a stick to pull it off. Let alone a stick with curves! Way too much to ask for. But the top two are very cute. I'm very into the rings in bathing suits. I already have two =D.

totally agree with anon 9:46pm. i was at the market next to Bondi Beach (sydney) the other time and i had absolutely no problem taking off my kaftan in public and try clothes on in the middle of the street with only my bikinis on. but i'd never ever ever do the same thing if im in my underwear. ha!

anyways, regarding this post, i love love love the michael kors one with the Chanel=esque chain. it looks tres glamorous! i love zimmermann swimwear a lot too and harrods/barneys girls you should definitly check them out! they are a big star in the australian fashion week: http://www.zimmermannwear.com/

Sexy swimwear should be subtil. Use some knit or sweaters.
