FW06 Fashion Trend: Leopard Printed Clothes

Leopard prints seems to be the first trend to emerge this fall. Leopard prints has always been a widely debated style issue: tacky and cheap, or stylish and cool? Leopard prints is a seriously hard trend to wear so be very careful. First, as seen on the runway:

Prada showed two slightly different subtle leopard printed coats -one form-fitting, the other slightly like a cocoon shape.

Alessandro Dell'Acqua on the other hand, showed two different sharp-looking leopard printed coats -one with the 60s feel, and the other is a sophisticated long coat.

Apart from coats, whole leopard printed dresses were also seen. The red Louis Vuitton dress is sort of casual and cute. The Roberto Cavalli dress is wild and very hard to pull off, (although the fur jacket and dress combination does looks very luxurious on the model.)

Louis Vuitton showed two other excellent ways to pull off the leopard prints without going overboard: just show bits of it! Learn from the runway, show just the sleeves or wear a scarf.

Kate Moss looks AMAZING in the leopard dress. I really hated the complete leopard look until I saw these photos of Kate. She's wearing a leopard printed dress and shoes, and still looks soo glam and stylish.

Mischa Barton also recently wore leopard dresses, but she wore it in a more casual style. She made the leopard look more youthful by wearing the dresses with solid-coloured clothes, like the cream cropped jacket on top and black turtleneck underneath.

Wear leopard printed clothes only if you are an excellent stylist and you can pull it off stylishly.

kate looks so fab in that dress. she doesn't make the oufit look like a leopard over-load.

mischa's outfits are ok. i'm not sure if i like the one on the right or not.. i'm just not really liking the whole black leggins/turtle neck/flats look with the dress.

i think the material of the leopard print coats and dresses and whatnot really helps determine whether it looks tacky or stylish. Personally, I would stay away from all unnatural colored leopard prints. kate looks great, though!

Hi- I've love your site and read it everyday. I wanted some pointers on what's in this season for a more professional attire. I work for a company that requires me to be in a suit 4 out of 5 days of the week. Do you have any updated looks that you can suggest or ways to improve a look. Let me know. thanks.

Well paint me zebra, lol! I think it would be so cool to wear leopard print in a 20s costume or outfit. I mean, picture a babydoll leopard dress with with bright red lipstick and a red rose in your hair, but then a pair of sneakers. So cool!

Kate looks awesome, but Mischa's look not my fav. She has been committing many fashion faux paus lately. Maybe leaving the OC has wrecked havoc on her wardrobe.

Oh dear. No no. I think leopard prints should just stay on.. well... leopards.

When I see leopard prints on a woman, somehow the image of her prowling the Hollywood strip comes to mind. Had a colleague who wore leopard prints to the office, and I think she got hauled away by the fashion police the next day.

I love the Louis Vuitton dress on Sasha, and I must say Du Juan looks absolutely gorgeous in that Roberto Cavalli ensemble!

And obviously, Kate Moss looks great in just about everything that she wears! (I have agree with most people here that Mischa's look isn't at all my favourite!)

The Prada coats look virtually if not totally identical to me, the only difference being the way they are belted. The Prada and the Dell Acqua coats are predictable. I like the Vuitton--looks almost vintage, and the red print is surprising, although I'm not sure about it with the darling grey suit. Mischa looks bad. I have always avoided leopard prints because they look fake.

For the longest time I thought Sasha and Gemma were the same person, they look so similar, especially in the side by side photos.

I am not so sure that this trend will last longer than couple of months. I absolutely am on the contra side for this trend. It is so last century. Furthermore, I can never see people look good in these outfits.

I prefer zebra print, but a really great vintage leopard coat is a thing of joy...otherwise a clutch or an alice band is probably enough unless you are Kate!

I really like the whole Louis Vuitton thing with the red print. It seems a little more young and fun. I must say that if you wear it the right way, leopard print can look quite good. I saw a lovely grey silk leopard print dress a couple of weeks ago, but unfortunately, it didn't fit. I don't know whether this trend will be around for that long though. People seem to be tiring of it already!

You're SO right! It's really hard to make a leopard printed dress not look tacky. I've got a leopard printed skarf myself, and think that's enough l-print...
