London Spring/Summer 2007 Wrapup IV

Giles
Giles Deacon's collection this season was awesome this season. His looks were so brilliant that I had a hard time picking out these few! His designs were modern, innovative and yet still very simple, chic and wearable.

As always, Deacon combines some kind of absurd (I can only assume to be) artsy thing on his model's head with his simple, lovely dresses. Last year it was a metal contraption so vivid that I remember it still. This year, it is these hairy afros. There was even one where the whole model was a ball of black fluff. I wonder how the model see's out of those things! Come to think of it, how does style.com even know who the models inside these fluffs are to be able to name them?

Perfect example of his absolutely gorgeous simple dresses with just the right 'twist' on the strapless dress.

Pieces inspired by a subtle bondage theme. I love how it is so subtle that one can't even tell it is a bondage theme unless one looks closely. On first glance it just reminds me of the gold chain dress from Stella McCartney last year.

More examples of Deacon's brilliantly innovative yet wearable and flattering outfits.

Love the shape of these two outfits. The left is very Balenciaga and his reinterpretation of the kimino style is very neat (you should also check out the dress!).

Beautifully and perfectly constructed gowns.

Emporio Armani
Emporio Armani's debut in London was typical Emporio Armani. Based on a black, white and red palette, the designs were quirky, short and fun.

The three vertical circle detail is very uniting. And the belt is smashing. Even though the design is so simple, it pulls the outfit together perfectly and even adds a touch of something more to it. Apart from silver, patent black and red belts were also prevalent on this runway.

Quirky two shade blazers. And note the "knot" theme.

More fun, flirty and neat designs playing on the color contrast of red, white and black.

These four outfits are my favourite. The designs are all so cool, edgy and yet so elegant and clean cut, from a day at the office to a night out.

Oh and I just adore this royal blue color. It just looks so rich and regal!

Ooo, those are some pretty cool short dresses by Giles. And wow, the Armarni collection looks sort of funky, which was not expected. Maybe he wants to leave an impression on quirky London.

The designers outdid themselves at this show. These are some of the most elegant and beautiful designs I have seen this season. Once you get past feeling sorry for the models in the first two pics, you discover wonderfully beautiful clothes in Deacon's collection. I truly loved the Armani collection though. It screamed fashion.

The Giles white bubble dress with with the chain and skull print is "wearable?" You ARE kidding, aren't you? Ditto that thing with the gold shoulder. That is just too weird.

I like the Giles kimono, and I loved the Armani runway. All of it was so wearable, I could really see office fashionistas wearing things just like that!

Personally I like to wear my bush on my crotch as opposed to over my face. That's cause I believe my face has more value than being a poster for pussy.

Girls, wake up to the misogyny. The designer is pratically hitting you over the head with it with his black fur muffs (!) and you still don't get it when he throws bondage prints into the collection?

Isn't it about time that plus size women were elevated to their proper loftyness? I certainly do. See more at my blog...

Giles Deacon: I'm amazed by headdress they made the model wear. It is almost as if they are trying to turn these girls into walking mannequins - do you think that is his aim?

His bondage themed pieces remind me of Chloé bags with their large locks and buckles. Very subtle indeed!

My favourite has to be the kimono-style top. Its so simple, yet classy and elegant. It looks wonderful with the flared bottoms.

Emporio Armani: I am personally not too keen on the designs- they seem a bit generic. However if he is going for the casual look then I suppose then he has achieved his aim. I do like the black and white jacket on the 4th to last model. The collar looks very unique and eyecatching.
