Ralph Lauren at the Beijing Olympics

It's the opening of the Beijing Olympics today! Granted I'm not much of a sporty person myself (my idea of sports is walking/shopping), I can't wait to see the opening. Not only because the performances at the opening ceremonies are always really amazing, but also because I can't wait to see the outfits of the US team! I always have the impression that the opening outfits are very old fashioned and not very flattering. But this time, designed by Ralph Lauren (how much more American can they get?), it should be much more fitted and elegant. In the mean time, let's take a look at the Ralph Lauren Olympic collection.
Usually I'm not too excited. They're almost always very touristy and looks more like an advertising campaign than anything. This hat is no exception. I can totally picture an American tourist with a big camera wearing it.
The polo with the Chinese characters saying Beijing is ok. But I can't help but think that these two tops are something I can grab from a tourist shops in Beijing. You know, the tops with the name of the city emblazoned on it, that can be found in any tourist shop in any city... this is especially so for the red top.
They do however, have something a bit more subtle, like these two polos. They're quite cute, but then again nothing that out of the norm for a RL polo. So where is the happy medium between too touristy and too subtle?
These tops. I'm loving these RL polos. The trimming and the stripes are genius. They are patriotic, very Olympic yet stylish. For one thing, I'd actually wear these out in public- even after the Olympics!

Let's see if RL maintains this happy medium for the opening ceromony.... in 8 hours!!

I completely agree with you on the not so flattering outfits in the last years. Sometimes they come out looking like they're from the Revolutionary War. I hope Ralph Lauren did something great. The last shirt with the diagonal stripes is great. I would love to have one of those.

Check out my new blog!

I like this collection and it's very RL. I love the hat, very preppy and true to Ralph Lauren's style. I'm also into the diagnol stripes, I think it's flattering to athletes who are more muscular than the average woman. Did anyone see Project Runway this week? Their challenge was to create an outfit for Americans in the Olymic Opening Ceremony. The top 3 came up w/ outfits even better than RL's!

I twas excellent but then again that is too be expected the Chinese pulled out all the stops. I wonder if the opening in london will be as good.

I like the ralph lauren Polos they are all nice but you are right they are a bit touristy , but maybe thats too be expected. The Olympics are probably one of the biggest tourist events worldwide

Rather dull. And it's so unisex and those hats.

I think Ralph is done. Someone should take a page out of the British Olympic Team's fashion look book.

They were the hands down winners.

Did you see that Ralph Lauren did the Wimbledon umpires and line judges uniforms as well.

Looked very traditional and slick.

"Ralph Lauren Olympic collection" gives athletes desirable attempts to win their game. I like the hat. its so simple yet it gives so much impact like as if you represent the fashion of athletes.

About RL's clothes for the US team, I have to repeat what the judges of Project Runway recently said: "What's United States about them?"

Looked like the cast of Chariots of Fire (English) walked around with blue jackets.

And the large white Polo logo was just tasteless.

I totally agree with you; the last polos are the only ones that i would wear. the other ones are borderline trashy, & I find the hat so terrible! Most of the polos shown seem so out of character for RL!

Honestly speaking, at first I thought Ralph Lauren sponsoring the USA team for Olympics looks gonna be worst but when I saw them at the opening ceremony it really turns out good.

Speaking of Olympics, have you seen that emotional Olympic ad for VISA? Morgan Freeman is the voice behind it... it's striking. I saw it on KIIS FM's web site:

How To Make money with affiliate programs Today. Affiliate marketing is the easier and probably the most effective method to make money from the internet. It is basically, a kind of selling technique where potential buyers from your website are directed to the websites of sellers. For every click, the website owner gets a small commission.
