V-Neck Shirt By American Apparel

Remember how I did a post of the American Apparel Reglan shirt awhile ago, basically professing my love for them and acknoledging that I had worn them almost everyday last winter and realising I should probably buy new shirts? Well, now that it's summer, I can't really go around wearing the Reglan shirt -it's simply too hot. So not surprisingly, I decided to try out one of AA's oh-so-popular V-neck tees.

We all know that AA is really popular for it's deep V tee, but seriously, the V is so deep that I can't say I actually understand why people even feel comfortable wearing it casually (or not casually.) What's the point of a basic, boring tee if it's not comfortable and I have to spend the whole day pulling my shirt up?

So I stuck to the basic V-neck tee. Before trying on the tee, I imagined that an AA V-neck tee would magically transform my outfit to look cool and all, like you know how it always looks cool on whoever's wearing it in the photos you see in paparazzi or candid fashion photos? Alas, from what I could see in the AA changing room mirror, the tee totally did not make me look any cooler (not surprisingly I suppose.)
The coolest way to wear the AA tee is probably with skinny jeans or denim shorts -they really create a more unisex, effortless feel. Although admittedly, I've been wearing the tee with a denim skirt. And after wearing this outfit a few times, I'm really appreciating how brainless the combination is! (Brainless-ness is clearly one of the key factors to my favourite outfits.)

And yes, I realise the AA tee is totally last year's news, (or maybe even news from the year before,) but hey, at least I'm learning to appreciate this boring (but very useful) basic tee now.

I have a few AA regular v neck tees and I love them. They were my staple this summer....until I bought a V neck tee from the Gap.

I'm in love with these v neck tees. The V is deeper but I have 0 boobs (not kidding, basically flat) so I don't fumble around trying to hide cleavage. They're also ALOT lighter than the AA tees and drape nicely.

PS. Love your blog.

i love both the v neck and the deep v. being a busier girl the plain v sometimes comes across a little mumsy as i get verandah boob. with the deep v i stragely don't have too much cleavage, just a good shape.

that being said, i love both cuts, and live in them!

p.s. i love your blog too!

Well of course I love your blog!

I say add a necklace to this combo to up the style quotient. It might not be as AA casual but it will look chic!

i have several deep v shirts from AA. for some reason, the shirts look great on me considering that I too am on the small chested side. In fact, I believe i look a little bustier (could be the help of a good push up bra). The shirt stays put, never had a problem. I seriously think it makes my outfits look put together casually, chic and hip. Good luck with trying it on!

I've been meaning to get AA V-necks. They just scream comfort, but laziest kept preventing me from purchasing them.

For the most beautiful Blue Sapphires, Pink Sapphires, White Sapphires, Sapphire Rings (or any other kind of Sapphire Jewelry), check out http://www.TheNaturalSapphireCompany.com

Thanks for reminding me to add those to my back to school fall clothing list.

ps; They have THE best hoodies to through on when you're running late even though I'm stating to fall in love with Soffes

aaah I love this top- what looks great with it is this one necklace I have from J Weber Jewelry. When I wear the necklace with the top I can go to work wearing it or even at night for a dinner. You should check out their website sometime to see some of their stuff, it's really great!

I am a huge fan of the AA deep v - I'm even wearing one now! (black paired with grey skinnies). I love the easy casual simplicity as well, and I think they are so versatile.
Another AA piece I love is the spaghetti strap chemise. great colors, great fabrics, really sexy.

Yes American Apparel is a great brand I use them almost exclusively for my t-shirt line http://www.mentallpatientdesigns.com/
No V-Necks though, but customers do notice the difference

Yes, who doesn't love their v-necks. Their heather gray ones are probably the best ones. It's also a coincidence but I just posted about v-necks too. You should try the Pocket v-necks at Gap, they're so soft and comfy!

I love, love V-necks tees! They are so easy! The ones from GAP are great and they are much lighter. i bought a couple there and a few from Urban Outfitters on sale for $10 bucks a pop. I like Urban's because they have a slim cut and fun prints. And they are softer than AA's.

I've never been a fan of AA because of their wall decor. I know that may sound silly. They propose to be anti-sweatshop, but those people in the photos definitely look oppressed!

My fav v-neck is James Perse! You should try them if you want that casual-sloppy look. And although the neckline is huge, as long as you don't wear a slippery bra, it's not so bad.

Oooh you need not worry about the deep v being too deep. I don't know how they did it, but it is the most non-revealing V I have ever worn. It is deep but narrow, and the unisex shape makes it stay snug in the chest area(even though I'm only 32B), so even when I bend down, not even a glimpse of my bra is showing. Looks great with the coming-up chain necklaces trend.

I have this one deep V shirt from RVCA, and for the most part, I just let it do whatever it wants. I live in the middle of nowhere, with people I couldn't care less about the opinion of. I don't have boobs really(36B), but on the odd occasion my bra does show. I love the shirt though.

V-neck will be much better if you will combine it with jewelry or if it's plain, you can add up some beads to have an elegant look.

i love their v-necks. i've never had a problem with having to pull up the neck. :/ i agree that it works well with a longer necklace or a scarf of a contrasting color.

These shirts are cute. I especially like the turquoise shirt at the top. That color goes well on every skin tone.
