08 Trend: Gold Eyeshadow -The Smoky Eye

So while finding the runway photos on style.com for the Pure Gold post, I realised that the gold eye shadow look that has been in my mind wasn't really the Bottega Veneta S/S08 look but it was the very different Versace S/S08 look: the smokey eyes.

For a light smokey eye, go for the Zac Posen S/S08 way.
You can see that there's obviously yellowish-gold eye shadow in the inner corners and on the bottom lashes. As for the top outer eyes, the brown eye shadow is applied in a 'wing out' way, which may look cool on the models, but I imagine very hard to apply on yourself in real life -the winged shape is so hard to acheive!
For something more smoky and made-up for a night out, try the Versace S/S08 way. The Versace 'face' is definitely one of my favourites this season. It's pretty do-able in real life, (as long as you don't expect to look 100% like it does in the photos.)
For an imitation of this smokey eye, just blend gold and brown on your eye lids.
Try this: Mac's Goldmine + Tempting. I've never actually tried tempting, but I'm guessing most shades of shimmery brown would be ok.
Pale lips seem to be the way to go, although for some odd reason, pale lips never seem to look as cool in real life as in fashion magazine photos.
Picture yourself in this makeup for a night out -loves it!

I'd try eyeshadow creams not pressed powder. I have a gold one, though the colour isn't as storng it is gold not yellow.

I used to wear silver eyeshadow as my 'thing'
You have inspired me to start again.
I could never do gold as i'm really pale.

these looks will be savvy for a night out but in the day time, it's definitely an overkill. maybe just a hint of gold is good. i use estee lauder duo pencil.

That "Versace S/S08" is so fantastic to wear. You might think that the eye is animatedly mystical. I like that effect on the eye. Its like having a fashion in a different twist.

I love this kind of make-up. I got a really great gold creamy liquid sort of eyeshadow that's really easy to put in just the corners of your eyes like in the look you showed because of the very small brush. It's from B Never Too Busy To Be Beautiful, but I'll definitely be trying that brown Mac shadow you featured. Looks so good for a night out. x

I too love the Versace look. I love the pale shimmery gold in the inner corner and more smokey brown in the outer corner. the pale gold shade reminds me of Serena in gossip Girl, I love her make up!

I love the bronze smoky eye because you can't really mess it up! Even if you smear a little too much, it just looks like it's all part of the look. I find it looks more dramatic the less gold accent you add. That way the bronze color really pulls out the color of your eyes and the gold is just a pop of glimmer.

Tempting isn't as brown as the swatch on the MAC site indicates. It's the same shade as the gold jewelry from the Chanel Paris-Londres show. For a browner color, I'd go with Mulch (blended into the crease for contour and depth) topped with a darker matte brown color like Embark, in the crease also, for a smokier effect. Goldmine could serve as an eye brightener when blended into the inner corner of the eye.

I am loving this gold eye makeup. it's perfect for all season and always makes the eyes look brighter and sexier. And it's great when you use gold for a smoky eye. It's more soft than full on black or dark brown! Check out my blog at http://colormenana.blogspot.com
