The Essence of La Mer

The other day I found out that one of my friends worked at La Mer- I got really excited and practically pounced on her with everything I ever wanted to know about beauty products. Like, what are the dress code/make-up codes for various brands? Do you get free samples? How is the quality of the hand cream treatment at La Mer?- I think she got slightly scared by my sudden over enthusiasm :P
But the thing that caught my attention and made my ears perk up and my eyes light up the most was the Essence of La Mer that she mentioned, sold only to their VIP and celebs. Personally I've never heard of this product before, but apparently its already been around for a few years. It is a very concentrated version of their cream and what it does is that it heels wrinkles and scars and minimizes pores within a 3 week treatment. I heard it works really well (anyone tried it?). And at over $2000USD, I should hope it does! And if you want to get onto their VIP and VVIP list to give this product a try, be prepared to dish out around $15000 annually at their counter.

Very intriguing. I'm amazed I didn't know about this until now. Though it kind of sounds like the Estee Lauder night treatment thing they came up with last year....come to think of it, La Mer is owned by Estee Lauder. Perhaps some of the Essence of La Mer secrets got passed along to their parent company and got transformed into this relatively cheaper brown bottle at the EL counter?

I think this is the sketchy thing about la mer products. I dont know anyone who can afford it that can give an honest answer. And the people at the counters are always going to bs you. Until you buy it or someone gives it to you, there is no way of truly knowing!

i find the concept ridiculous.
and anyone who doesn't...
really needs a good smack in the head.
2000USD on top of 15000.

i am appalled that this exists at all, let alone there are women who are willing to spend such an insane amount of money on this.

Well i guess that's why its for VIP's and celebs! If u weren't one or the other i don't think that you would even think of buying it. Do you know any particular celebs that use it? Maybe we can see if it works from their faces lol

I don't have the $2000 creme but I bought the Creme de La Mer for the face which costs $100.00 3 years ago. My observation is that it onlu plumps up the skin because when I woke up the next morning after applying the creme, my eyes looked puffy or swelly. So I never really used it after that. The creme is still on my dresser waiting to be used.

i love makeup and fashion of course, but honestly who would fork out that amount of cash on MAKE UP? that much money could most probably save an african community.

The reason it's so expensive is because this cream was once used only in hospitals for burn victims I believe.

I use creme de la mer and have for about a year now. i definitely see a difference. I'm only 23, but I've had more compliments on my complexion than ever before. It could be good genes, but I never wear any makeup other than eye makeup and some lipgloss, since my skin is clear, smooth, and evenly toned. It could be la mer, or it could not. I definitely vouch for it. it's superb!

Twenty years ago I met Dr. Max Huber. He invented this creme. He had an experiment blow up in his face, leaving him badly burned and scared.I saw first hand his repaired skin. He gave me a sample of the concentrate. I was so young at the time, if only I had it now-at forty!

i think if you have used Creme de La Mer and their eye cream, you would really believe how it heals the skin. Afterall, the inventor of La Mer, Max Huber concocted this cream to heal his own burns.

Can I just say.... Don't knock it until you try it. I don't work for La Mer but it's the only skin care line that I've seen that even shows any results in any way. Furthermore La Mer is DISTRIBUTED by Estee Lauder not made by them. When the founder of the company created the product it was for his own use due to a Rocket Fuel explosion that burned a large amount of his face and body. It's base ingredient the "broth" is incredibley hard to come by due to the fact that the sea kelp that they use for it can only be harvested twice a year! The Essence which is mentioned in this article is also a 21 day treatment that does things that nothing else can do... and just so everyone knows the guy who created it for himself was essentialy a rocket scientist for NASA which should say something about it... So don't knock it just because you can't afford it!

I use Creme de La Mer and I like how my skin feels. I tried to change a couple of weeks ago (for an Estee Lauder creme) and it was disaster... I had an alergic reaction. I returned to Creme de La Mer yesterday and I already feel better. I will try Essence. I am not a celebrity, I just think it is better to rely on good products instead of surgery
