Smooth Legs

Previously for fear of pain and mess, I've always been satisfied with shaving. Upon seeing the very cool Veet ad for their hair removal cream (with the zig zag thing), I'd also given it a try. Alas, I was sorely disappointed when it only worked half way (ads are SO deceiving).
So I went back to shaving. And I was thrilled when they came out with a combination of two of my favourite razors- Venus and Intuition- clean smooth shave with a built in gel thing for those lazy souls out there like me. Naturally I dashed out to get one of these, Venus Breeze and was SHOCKED at the price tag ($10.99)- especially of the cartridges (23.21). But I persevered, convincing myself that each filler probably lasts longer-wrong! Because of the combination of design, the gel bar is very thin, and though it doesn't wash away as quick as the soap, it lasts for about 2 weeks at most. Ouch! Even if the catridge pack does contain 8 thats still quite pricey. (Note: If you still insist on trying it and you already own a Venus, my advice to you is just buy the refill right off the bat, because the attachment is the same. Although it may not fit onto the case anymore, it'll save you a few bucks!)
That, in addition with the recent summer heat and the short shorts trend, I decided shaving, with all its constant need of attention and unflattering stubbles after a day or so, is simply not good enough anymore. And so, I finally decided to brave the pain and go for waxing. Turns out, when it comes to beauty, I have a pretty high tolerance for pain. While it was messy and slightly painful at first, I soon got over it. Especially with these Veet wax strips, which makes it even easier (just remember to wipe off the excess with their special wipes or oil). The result were exactly as they had advertised it to be- clean and it lasts for ages! My only complain is that I don't always get everything, but I've found that skill and speed comes with practice.
So I've really tried many different methods of hair removal. Next on my list would be an epilator (above: Braun). But it is kind of pricey and I heard that the pain may be worse (I mean, they are literally pulling hair out one by one instead of all in one quick rip). Has anyone tried it? And how do you all out there keep your legs smooth?

I have tried that Braun epilator and let me tell you, it hurts real bad. It might be because I'm extremely pale but it left my legs red for 2-3 days. I never had the guts to do it again, lol. My moms friend has been using it for years and her legs look perfect so maybe it just takes some getting used to.

I have an unrelated question also... I'm in need of brown evening heels, can you give me suggestions as to where I could find some? Thanks!

I would like to get a epilator but I'm not sure how painful it will be but glad to hear it works.

The epilator HURTS so bad, i can guarantee you that! I keep my legs smooth by shaving, and most importantly, exfoliating and moisturising them on a regular basis.

I tried those veet wax strips a couple years ago, i ended up with blue waxy arm pits! I used their hair removal cream the other day, it worked really well, but i had stubble the next day. Personally, I think i'll stick to razors from now on.

I have been using the Intuition every day ever since it came out (at least 3 years) I have never had a problem with it. I was also excited when I saw Venus Breeze, but having used it for a month. I hate it, I am back with Intuition. The Venus Breeze did not give a smooth shave and it caused really bad razor burn. I still can't figure out something that shaved so poorly (leaving a lot of stubble) cause such razor burn!

as for epilator, I used the epilady back in the day, and while it did hurt in the beginning, it got a lot better later.

I tried the Epilator when it first came out years and years ago. I am VERY tolerant of pain, but this thing was EXCRUCIATING.

I used a razor before, but got lazy doing it every (almost) day, so I invested in an epilator. I does hurt the first time, but you do get used to it (after 5 tries). The good thing is that the hair grows back less thick and less black. But i was disappointed when I saw that I have to do it every 5 days (so not every month like they say in the ads!).

a little off the topic, but i have really hairy arms and so use hair removal cream every now and again. however it doesnt last very long so ive begun thinking about waxing my arms instead. ive waxed my legs before and found it didnt hurt too much, but heard that waxing arms is way more painful. anybody got any ideas about the best way to remove arm hair?

I used to use an epilady and didn't really find the pain so unbearable. But I also get novocaine-less fillings, if they're not too deep. My problem with hair removal is that my hair is such that when it's pulled out, it grows back ten times as thick. Some people's hair gets thinner when yanked. I'd suggest experimenting on a patch beforehand, for a month or so.

I think epilators are great - the pain is not so bad for me, so I guess it depends on the body type. Try pulling your leg hairs with tweezers to see how it feels for one hair, then imagine how it would be for multiple hairs. That should give you a good idea of pain tolerance.

Even though it's pricey, it comes out cheaper than waxing because you can use it over and over and over again. I love it!

I have the braun silk epil and it is supposed to be the most gentle epilator. i was really scared when i used it but it acutally didnt hurt that much. i advide that you let the hair grow in only slightly because if it is too long then it is more painful but if the hair is too short then it doesnt work well. i highly recommend it.

After using a silk epil for some time, my hair started getting weaker, so it began to grow under my skin, and creating horrible and painful bumps, even though i exfoliated every day. One vote on shaving!

and i found alot of ingrown hair on my legs after using epilators too.. >_<

I used to have full-body waxes or sugars and slowly became numb to the pain.

I use a Norelco Satinelle epilady (or maybe epilator, I don't remember) and I got red bumps the first couple times I used it, but now I don't. Also, the pain is no more than faint pricks for me. Less painful than waxing in my opinion.

I've been using a Braun one for years. I recently upgraded to the new ones and they are HEAPS better than the old ones.

If you hair is too long (think arm fuzz length) then it kinda hurts but it doesn't hurt at all to do leg hair.

It comes with this head attachment that kinda massages the skin around it b4 and after it pulls the hair out. It works out roughly around the same as waxing but it gets the small hairs. (plus no stray wax to deal with)

Apparently it hurts more to wax during certain time of the month (i think just before period) but generally I don't get these issues but some people might.

I've been using a Braun silk epil for 2 and a half years now and can't complain about the pain. I tried waxing before and I prefer the epilator.
After using it I've red bumps for 3 hours or so but they fade away when applying body lotion. after the waxing my skin was more stressed.
But I have to use it once a week... so again the ads lie here. I don't know anybody who can wait 4 or 6 weeks.
And you have to be carefull to get all the hairs. So best use it in broad day light.
The most difficult thing is to use it for the first time.. to overcome your fear of pain. And then the worst is over.
But if you got couperose or spider veins I would advise you to do with out an epilator, because they can get worse.

NO!
epilators are awful!
my mother bought me one for christmas thinking it was an electric razor, and it was honestly like hell. it would pull out one hair and i'd scream and throw it down. needless to say, i immediately returned it.

my advice is just use a men's razor. as much as they say women's work just as well, they don't.

Hey, I wax- have done since I was about 14 and I'm 20 now. I get my legs waxed, but its been difficult finding good places since I have moved quite a bit. Since I've been getting them done, even with a couple of lapses into shaving, my shins are nearly hairless and it takes like 6 weeks to grow back. What I would recommend with the whole thing with moving and trying to find a new place is to just try out places around where you live, there is bound to be a good place somewhere there. If you find the first wax isn't that good, try a different place, until you find a good one. Or else, ask around, people are always more than happy to help.

i used to buy nads but found it way too sticky, once my body warmed it up it would start melting, basically it's not worth paying $26 or so when Naid does the job just as well.
I use Nair's rollon wax, i really like it cause i create more of a mess with the popsicle stick.
Although sometimes when i pull it i wind up with a tiny bruises.

I waxed my arms once and it didn't hurt the same as waxing my legs. My thighs have thinner hair so it's not really painful but the rest of my leg is painful for me.

Oh, I'm so glad you brought this up... I've used Veet, Venus and waxing strips. The razor gives me ingrowths. Hair removing cream and shaving also don't last as long as I'd like them to. The reason I pick those, however, is that I've heard that you need to let hair grow back after waxing, for a bit before you can wax again. I've heard this of the epilator too... Is this true?

When I run out of shave creme, I use my hair conditioner--it works incredibly well! After showering, lots and lots of moisturizing creme. Your legs will be very soft.

I've been using Braun's silk epil for two years now and I must say it's awesome and has saved me tons from getting waxed by professionals. Honestly I was scared as hell using it the first couple of times because of the vibrations and the noise - but I got used to it pretty quick and can't feel much pain now. It hurts more around some sensitive areas like the ankles, but I've always used it safely on the legs and arms.

About in-grown hairs, I've had no problems because I exfoliate and moisturize daily.

I find epilators to be a worthy investment. Try it a couple of times! :)

I have been using my braun epilator for years (approx 8 or 9 years?) and yes it does hurt the first few times u use it - no point beating around the bush, but after a while, you get used to it and you just feel little pin pricks that I wouldn't say is painful.

Results last longer than shaving and is less messy. Would never go back to shaving.

You can use the epilator for ur bikini line (which I have once in a while for a "clean up") but you can still get ingrown hairs. However, I generally go for a Hollywood which I go for a profession wax for, and would never use an epilator for this.

I think I have tried every single (home-to-do) ways to remove hair.

epilator isn't that painful as they say. yeah, sure it hurts , but you're not gonna die on the pain.

wax is really messy. ( i think these two are the same in the level of panfulness) and taks a lot of time.

hair removing gels _do_ work, but just for few days. and then you'll need to do it again.

shaving is for me the last choice for me. it doesn't last long, I easily hurt myself and it takes a lot of time to do it daily.

i hate waxing! it's so messy to do at home, takes so much time! and i hate going to salons because no matter how clean they are i'm always disgusted of other people touching me.. i also have a solid theory that wax makes armpits sag!

and i have never used a razor for anywhere but the private parts.. actually no one in my country does, the trend is full-body waxing. as for the bikini line, the hairs there are exceeding so I'm planning to get them lasered this winter(not right now because after laser epilation the skin must not be exposed to the sun).

I have been using Braun epilator since I was 14-15, the first time i was scared of the noise, but it's very easy to get used to. a previous comment said u can test it by tweezing a single hair, but that's not true, when u use it in high speed it hardly even hurts, except for the times that i havent touched them for more than a month.. it's clean and quick, i highly recommend it. I'm still using the one i got 7-8 years ago, it's still working perfectly, and it's not costing me any money. it works amazing on legs; the results are long term, and you can do it whenever you want when u see short hair. in the summer i do it about once a week, but if I'm going to the pool i can always refresh it in 10 minutes, have perfectly smooth legs w/out the wait like wax. I use it for my armpits and bikini line too, but those areas cause a lot of ingrows. just get the whole bunch lasered if you can afford, believe me in long term it will cost you less than all those waxing appointments.

I've always had a lot of hair in my legs so epilator is the best thing for me (epilate once a month and then shave the spots that i missed) but i can't tolerate all these bumps. My legs can NEVER be smooth and it's embarrassing when I'm with my boyfriend because even right after I shave they still feel hard.

Any advice?!??!!

I use witch hazel astringent (you can get it at the grocery store) on those annoying bumps you get after epilating- and i swear to you the bumps are gone after an hour or two. Added bonus: it's a natural antiseptic and skin soother so it cuts way down on ingrown hairs too. If you still get the occasional bump, dab some tea tree oil on it! Good luck!

I just got the Smooth Legs pad things 'as seen on tv' and they work ok. You have to use a bunch of them to get all the hair off just your legs, but it's painless.
I rubbed too hard at first, thinking it was supposed to wipe away, and that left a red irritated splotch. You have to sort of buff... it took a while, but it's pretty nice.
I think they'd work for most women (I don't think they'd do well against extremely thick, coarse hair. Or maybe you'd just need to use more of them).

I can't afford waxing regularly, and I get horrible red bumps- not ingrowns, more like blood blisters or something- when I wax my bikini area. When I shave I have stubble by that evening, and Nair and Veet only leave me smooth for a day, then I'm stubbly again.

After reading all these, I'm wondering if I could stand an epilator. I could probably deal with the pain if the results lasted a little while. Ingrowns... not so fond of....

I have always used the intuition and in my opinion it is the easiest way to shave, but the blades are not of the best quality. Even though they could have better blades it is the best I have ever used.

Make sure you shave with shaving cream. What works, but if you have dry skin, you get the cream that helps moisturize the skin while shaving. Do not drive with a razor blade, used to double or even triple. I have always shaved my legs two times when I am in the bathtub.

I just recently bought an epilator. To tell the truth, I was scared to death after reading the reviews about it to use it on my underarms. I did and I am PLEASED with the results! I have thick dark hair under my arms but the epilator can do it all! Honestly, for me, it didn't hurt much at all. Surely the pain is different to different people but I was surprised, with the thickness of my underarm hair, that it didn't hurt much. It did bleed and was red for a while but nothing compared to what I had imagined by reading the reviews. For the first time since I was 8, I have smooth underarms! If you are thinking about it, go for it!

I am a guy and have been keeping my body smooth for a year now.
I started with my legs and then I tried my hands. I realised it was odd to have smooth hands and hairy arms, so I did my arms as well. Also, my armpits. Then I went to a salon and had a Brazilian, all the hair removed from penis, crack and sack by a specialist.
It hurt a lot but the result was amazing. I could not stop looking at myself in the mirror, still a male but more feminine and soft. Now I am hooked to being smooth and wax once a month. The hair grow less and weaker and it gets easy to pull out.
It takes quite a lot of time thought and you get ingrown hair.
So, I am thinking of trying Lumea or other ipl machine and get rid of my body hair permanently. I will start with armpits probably.
Has anyone tried IPL? Any tips?

The most unique way to celebrate Friendship Day would be hold a gathering for your favorate images, quotes,hd wallpapers, messages, pics, photos and many more... Be that as it may, this thought needs a touch of arranging and exertion as you have to choose where to post(facebook, whatssapp, twitter, instagrame etc..) Once that is done, ring your pals and simply have your indulgence !
