Classic Cropped Jackets

One of the investments I am looking to do this season is in a classic cropped jacket that I can wear all the time this fall/winter. As my mom loves to point out, jackets are the best investment because they are the first thing people see you in on the streets and you will probably wear it more than whatever you are wearing inside. So I figured that a smart classic cropped jacket would be a good choice- they are versatile and very chic.
The volume and shape of it goes perfectly with this season's silhouettes as witness here on the Alice Ritter(left) and 3.1 Phillip Lim (right) runway.
Some of the more classic choices out there are these two from Rachel Pally (left) and Sunner (right). The v-neck blazer-like neckline keeps it classic and the cropped style gives it an extra oomph. Another option are these two jackets with the more enclosed neckline thats more coatlike from Ella Moss (left) and Milly (right). The play on the buttons are so cute!

Grey is also a great color this season that is easy to wear but not too black. These two cropped jackets from FCUK are so adorable. I especially like the high neckline and the bell sleeve of the jacket on the left, which gives it more shape.Something a little more edgy, we have this very stylishly tailored cropped jacket by Helmut Lang (who else?, left) and this printed jacket by Milly (right). I LOVE this jacket. This is my favourite cropped jacket of all because the bold print is still versatile being black and white and the feminine cut of the neckline brings edgy and girly together. It makes a statement and is still very wearable. I can totally see myself living and breathing this cropped jacket this season!

love the helmut lang jacket.
unfortunately i don't think cropped jackets suit everyone, they seem to end up cutting the body in half sometimes..

i worry whether the cropped arm length is all that versatile though; i think its cute, but only with certain things. the grey coat fourth down on the right looks amazingly comfy, although of course its more casual, so one might need several different jackets to cover all the bases...

There are some cute cropped jackets and sweaters at the store I work at and I'm always tempted to give one of them a try, but I ask myself if I see myself wearing it through the damp, cold winter season and my answer is always no. Maybe in the spring?

They ARE very cute, though. So tempting.

I bought a couple.

My black one with the big buttons that I got has to be my favorite one. It is a great investment!

Still can't decide about these... love the look, not so sure about the usefulness, but oh the sacrifices we make for fashion! :)

I did find some REALLY cute tweed swing jackets at www.artfulwears.com. I think the black will be my next purchase...

The jacket on the bottom right, by Milly, is my fav. I am wondering, what would you all think about the possibility of a short, yet dramatic cut in the fabric maybe a half foot under the bottom right button? Almost like a swoop cutting back into the jacket, or maybe even out and towards the pocket. Does anyone see what I am trying to explain? I know my visions are sometimes against classic looks, but sometimes things need to get stirred up a little. I think that with the pattern on this jacket, a slight cut to the left, under the bottom right button, could work. Can I get someone's input on this?

I mean no disrespect to Milly, I just think something like this could work with this funky jacket.

I love the Helmut Lang jacket! It seems to be the most flattering and edgy (which is exactly what I like to add to my style) from the batch.

I adore that Ella Moss jacket, it looks so cute and it would go with so many different options... I also have a lot of Ella Moss tops and cami's...she's a great designer...

I recently purchased a very cute cropped Robert Rodriguez jacket from www.bleuclothing.com. I saw it online on sale from another little boutique...and Bleu price matched me to help get my size. They have the BEST customer service.
