A Random Black Friday Post

OK, so I don't celebrate Thanksgiving at all, but how I wish the UK did. I am extremely jealous of all the sales the Americans are enjoying over there, although I certainly don't envy the crowds and lines of crazy shoppers that I've read about in the news. Friday's a tiring day for me so this post is going to be a bunch of my completely random observations:
  • In accounting class last week, I looked around. Three out of seven girls had earrings on. And out of those three, two pairs were Chanel costume jewelry. One pair's design was the big Chanel logo in silver with crystals, (which I thought the girl carried them on nicely); the other pair's design was a pink 'quilted' square that had a black logo on it, (which I thought was bulky and way too toy-like.)
  • In an attempt to warm myself up and keep me awake during my two-hour Finance lecture, I stopped by Starbucks first. While attempting to walk to my lecture, the bubbles from the coffee kept coming oozing out from the little hole on top and the coffee kept threatening to spill out. I had to walk snail-pace and channel my inner princess (much like Anne Hathaway did in Princess Diaries). I never thought much about it before, but how does anyone walk around with a paper cup full of coffee in their hands?
  • Apart from the fabulous sales, I am so jealous of the short trips people are on this Thanksgiving weekend. My sister is visiting relatives in San Francisco (mostly for good food I'm sure,) and Barneys Girl has left the windy city to visit friends in San Diego. As for me, I'll be hiding inside my flat from the low temperatures this weekend, maybe except for tomorrow, when I'll brave the cold for a Belgian-style dinner.

  • If you're bored this long weekend (or you simply want to procrastinate from work), and you loved Sex & the City as much as I did, go read the original column, which is being republished each week over at the Observer. Remember the phrase, 'Welcome to the Age of Un-Innocence'?

Being a self proclaimed Starbucks addict I also encountered the same problem. And it's cold where I am so no time to walk slow.

I found you can take two lids, and put them on with the whole opposite to each other, so that the lids cover the holes...OR, Starbucks has little coffee name lables and if you ask the barristas they'll give you one to stick over the sip hole, and the steam from the coffee makes it uber easy to take off when you get to lecture :)

THINK OF SOMETHING SHALLOW AND YOU WON"T SPILL

like if i'm holding a cup of water and running up the stares..and i think of a shallow swimming pool..i'm balanced and nothing spills

it's a trick that i got from a flight attendant (they have to carry drinks 10,000 ft above, so they would know!)

Ask the barista for a sticker/ label...they usually keep them out in the A.M. Just stick one or two on top and peel them off when you get to your destination.

I don't know about coffee...I'm still trying to figure out how to balance a full martini glass while wearing 4.5 inch heels.

take a few sips before u start walking. or ask if they can give you a bigger cup , like if you're drinking medium, ask them to fill it in a large cup.

I have NEVER shopped on Black Friday, the crowds would be just to much to handle.. As for the cold weather, I am from Arizona, it doesn't get that cold here:)

Pour a little bit out after you get it so it can't bubble to the top.

Most sane American's don't shop on Black Friday. The crowds, petty fighting, and often empty shelves just aren't worth it in value for mnay. It's like going into a designer for h&m sale, unless you're really in love with the designer/collection or just want it because you can't afford the real thing, then you wait from 6 am. If not, you pass and move along.

The funny thing is that black friday wasn't AS bad this year. (at least at the mall.) I mean when i was working, it felt like there were swarms of people in the store, but all in all, it wasn't nearly as crazy as last year.

i think that's partly because there wasn't anything good this year. u know, there wasn't this one item that everyone had to have like the furbies back in the day or the tickle me elmo doll. and the sales weren't all that great, if that makes you feel better.

the only places i heard that got completely ransacked were target and walmart, but that's any day of the week.

Get cream on top on your coffee... it thickens the top layer and much less likely to spill, and the coffee tastes better too :-)

I put a straw in the top hole. I did it originally for some odd reason that I don't recall and realized that it kept it from spilling while I walked fifteen minutes (usually in heels) to my job on campus.

The beginnings of the habit in Europe of continual and increasingly rapid change in clothing styles can be fairly reliably dated to the middle of the 14th century, to which historians including James Laver and Fernand Braudel date the start of Western fashion in clothing. The 14th century was a period in which oil paintings for sale between the sexes was starting to come into effect. Some of the clothing has changed from garments held by string, to the upgrade of buttons. At this period one can see how the traditional style is slowing turning more oil painting. Many people during this time wore the big garments, and pointed shoes, but realized that they wanted more self-refined flattering tighter clothing. The most dramatic manifestation was a sudden drastic shortening and tightening of the male over-garment, from calf-length to barely covering the buttocks, sometimes accompanied with stuffing on the chest to look bigger. This created the distinctive Western male outline of a tailored top worn over leggings or trousers.

To utilize an automobile title advance to restore credit, its best to take a transient advance with a moneylender that offers aggressive loan costs, so you will pay minimal measure of enthusiasm over the term. Likewise discover a bank that elements no pre-installment punishments so you can reimburse prior if conceivable.

A lot of individuals have considered taking out a payday credit, yet few individuals know precisely how they function. While payday advances do have high loan fees, they can be useful in crisis circumstances.
