Keds

Ok, maybe I'm a bit of a poser, but after seeing Keds all over the magazines for so long I suddenly have this urge to go out and get a pair of Keds too (their marketing money is obviously well spent). I think it'll be a great replacement for my poor run down sneakers. They are comfortable, casual, affordable and cute. I can totally picture myself walking around campus in them.
Looking through their latest collections, I am thinking of these two. Black and white is obviously the most versatile color. And they look simple, pretty and cool. I especially like the Nanette Lepore designed script skimmers on the left.

Of course, being Keds, I am also tempted to try something different and fun, like these Panda (left) and Duck (right) print skimmers from the Eleanor Grosch collection. I quite like the green ones on its own actually, but I'm not sure how it'll look for the overall picture.
Then of course there are more wild prints from the Nanette Lepore Collection to consider. Note here that I'm only talking about the print, I am not so far gone under the Keds spell that I think the slip on style (right) is cool yet.

In fact, besides the classic skimmer style which I think is girly and pretty, I don't particularly like their other styles, like these peep toes and ankle strap. Peep toes more because I'm not sure HOW peep they are, if done with moderation, peep toes can be nice. And the ankle strap, because its just too much.
And these. . . well they're simply hideous. ugh.

But anyways, back to the point. I am considering getting Keds skimmers, but I haven't found any on the Mag Mile yet (they say Nordstrom carries them, but on first glance I did not see them. . . . ). Any comments on the fit and comfort level?

the back will hurt and scrape your ankles until you break into them, so wear bandaids! I thought I might have gotten a size too small, but my friends confirmed that they also went through a bandaid stage too

yeah ..that happened to me too.. but i didn't use bandaids, i used a hammer to hammer it ..LOL. it works !!!

I've been wearing Keds for years now (at the moment I have 5 pairs), and I had that problem with my Keds skimmers that are canvas, but I just got the b/w Nanette Lepore skimmers and they're ridiculously comfortable. And personally, I actually like the slip-on kind. They're comfortable, even when you walk/stand continuously for 10 hours, and they are actually cute if you know how to rock them.

They have them online at Bloomingdale's. I LOVE the idea. Comfy casual shoes that are NOT sneakers but still fit the purpose.

A friend of mine has the panda ones and they are adorable! (Although it can be hard to tell if they are pandas or just a pretty green design at first glance.)

I bought Keds last summer because I thought they were quite cute... But i walked my dog in them and came back all bloody. They really hurt A LOT... more than any other flat i've tried. But I suppose if you got used to them it would be fine... although mine lay in my closet to this day.

I bought some ridiculously cute Keds last summer (pale yellow with tiny little red cherries!!). I wore them around all day immediately and I have to say that they were the single most uncomfortable pair of shoes I have owned in recent memory. Not only did they wear away the skin at the back of my foot, they hurt my heels from underneath as well. They weren't nice and cushy to walk on as I had expected. Needless to say I returned them the next day.

One of the hideous pair (on the left) is actually kinda cute. My friend has a pair, and they look really cool. That picture doesn't do 'em justice.

the panda keds are super cute :D I didn't go through the bandaid phase with mine, but I do find at first they aren't high enough (if that makes sense? at the toes when I take them off they leave red lines) but after a bit they break in :D I'm not such a fan of Nanette Lepore but the Elinor whatserface ones are brilliant. I also love the Parot ones with the strap across the foot.

I agree with everyone here about comfort. Mine never got comfortable. These are my shoes that I wear if I know I'm not going to be doing a lot of walking, like going to the movies or something. Or I've taken to wearing them with socks. It's something in the design - like they curve too far in at the heel or something. I even bought mine a size bigger and it made no difference.

I bought a pair of keds on sale recently and I think they're perfect. I find them really comfy, but I did have to get a size bigger because there were no nines left. Maybe that's the trick.

Anyhow, I think the sneaker shoe idea is perfect for those of us that walk around campus all day. I have a pair of cute Sketchers that have served me well too.

(and I kinda like the strap on the hideous pair to the right)

I never got used to mine. I bought them and even walking down the street half way in them was terrible! If you do buy them I suggest band aids no doubt, but you should just save your money..

I love love Keds! I have four pairs. The skimmers in lime, pink plaid regular styled ones, nautical stripped slip ons and the plaid ones, which you delcared hideous but I have to disagree.
They're really great shoes.

I love these new Keds as well. I covered them too (http://missstylologist.blogspot.com/2007/03/get-your-keds-on.html) because they are just so cute, stylish and comfy...and I love their marketing surrounding the new collection.

I own two pairs of skimmers from the last collection. They wore out pretty quickly though. They're really cute but not the most comfortable. I want to purchase a few more but too bad they don't come in size 5 anymore.

I have these in the blue print from the NL collection. They are super comfortable, but I have to say the quality isn't all that great. My friend and I both got a pair a month ago and it already has rips in the back and on the sides. There are traces of glue showing on the edges too...

In the first picture, the black and blue ones on the right, my best friend has those shoes and I'm dying for a pair. They're so cute and everyone likes them, me and my friend are total opposites and both love them.

I feel wary of the shoes now. I guess you need to just try them yourself.

Okay, and I also need to comment that I think it is so weird that someone would be trying to advertise drugs and drug sites here. Seriously, would there even be the target demographic here for Viagra? So stupid.

i got a pair of keds skimmers last spring & they killed my heel like everyone else has said. after a while it was okay, i thought i had broken in the shoe. it was smooth sailing! great arch support, my feet never hurt, even after running around doing errands all day in manhattan. but last week i wore them again & they tore up my heel all over again! there are brands that have similar skimmers [bc footwear, vans, etc] that won't rub your skin raw.

Have you tried looking at Lord & Taylor for them? I went to their website to see if they had them, but the website is being weird and wouldn't load. Oh well - I'm going there this weekend with my mom, maybe i'll take a look. I love that store.

i have the panda ones and i love them. i get lots of compliments on them. however, i will agree that it's as though the heel arches in too far and irritates my skin. i felt like one of my achilles tendons was bruised after wearing them all day! however, i'm hoping to break them in soon -- i may try the hammer trick!

i just got the blue and black poka dot ones to the right on the first pic. i am so excited to wear them, they dont feel uncomfortable and they sell them at lord and taylor but if u have small feet they might have sold out ur size. i finaly made my mom buy me them since she doesn't let me wear flip flops or flats, pretty much i only could wear sneakers every day.

I have to agree with the fact that for some reason whether they admit it or not, guys love a girls in a pair of Keds. My boy friend actually amitted this to me, and has since baught me four different pairs. I've asked a couple of his friend as well as him, and the over all opinion seems to be they look mush more like what a girl should be wearing for sneakers. Ten to One they chose Keds over all my other sneakers I tried on for them. So there you go girls might be something to think about. I'm even going to wear a pair with my wedding dress this spring.

I got the really plain black skimmers when the first came out and thought they would be so cute and casual but the second I put them on they tore open the backs of my heels. I tried bandaids but it wore right through them and bloodied my heels again. My mom has the same pair and had the same problem. I love them and think they would be so cute but they hurt so much that they just sit there in my closet. I even tried to sell them on ebay but no one would buy them. Maybe I'll try the hammer trick but if not they're going to the good old Goodwill.
