Long Skirt Sightings

With this season's craze of the mini skirts and dresses, it's weird and refreshing to see bottom pieces that are not skinny jeans nor leggings, but long skirts.
Kate Moss was seen last week with her daughter in a beachy place in a boring grey shirt and a long, black skirt. The skirt is the type that is tight around the legs and flares out a bit at the bottom, (thus the 'flying' bottom bit when the wind blew in the picture.)
Another picture of Kate, but this time in a grey long skirt. It looks a bit like a sarong in a cool, grunge way, thanks to the black sneakers (or boots?) and belt. Even though both of Kate's skirts look super casual, (which they are,) they are actually hard to wear if you think about it because they are quite body-hugging.
I love this outfit by Ashley Olsen. It's got that grunge, rock chick thing going. The leather jacket, boots and let's not forget, that gigantic cup of coffee makes her outfit much more citygirl-cool. As a tip for all you short/ petite people (including myself), an A-line or flared out skirt like Ashley's is the way to go, if you decide to try this style out.

And here I thought Kate looked like a hassled housewife going out for groceries in her pyjamas. Silly me.

I'm not a big fan of Kate Moss's 2nd look, but I love what Ashley Olsen's wearing. Its simple yet sophisticated...

i'm not a fan of long skirts fullstop. i think it makes her look old and like she's wrapped a blanket around her... i think the pencil skirt or mini skirt suits her much better. fashionable or not, i won't be wearing long skirts anytime soon..

I really hate long skirts. Neither Kate Moss or Ashley Olsen look remotely good in it, how is any other girl supposed to pull off what they can't?

I think Ashley's outfit is nice.
Kate Moss's is kinda bleh....and I love her so that's not something I usually say.

I don't think I'd wear long skirts though....I like my legs. hah

i decided to try this yesterday with a long skirt from the back of my closet, though not as long as these. i LOVED it! looks so cute with boots and it is time for something different. so i tried on some more long skirts and discovered that a solid long knit skirt shows all those extra winter pounds, so you have to be in shape like these girls. the weight of the skirt pulls the knit down and is very revealing. black was not so bad and it does depend on the weight of the fabric of course. the skirt i wore had a busy monochromatic print so it was fine. i am definitely going for my personal version of this trend though. i thought it was a lot of fun to wear my long floppy skirt while everyone else was shivering in their minis

This is definitely interesting to me because I'm looking to get my mother a skirt/outfit for Mother's Day. I don't want anything boring like what Kate is where in the second pic- I'm looking a little nicer. I'm going to go to Lord and Taylor cause I know she loves the clothes there. Any more fashion do's/don't are appreciated!!

I like that you noticed this. I was looking forward to wearing maxi dresses this summer but hadn't thought about skirts. Oh, and the black shoes Kate Moss is wearing must be those short Minnetonka booties.

though i agree with it being a new trend to not show so much skin. I don't really care for either way these two are putting it on. I Love the idea of the "long skirt", but how about giving the look some life and looking less depressed in it. As far as pulling something off that a celeb can't i think that is highly possible to do. Celebrity's should not be the "be all end all" to whether or not you can pull off a look.

I like pencil style skirts so most of my long skirts are tight fitting and not that practical for the beach. But have to say that Kate looks good in that first photo, so I might have to put fashion before practicality!

fashion apart, long skirts can make you look extremely feminine and very attractive if worn with the right kind of accessories. Depending on your body type short skirts are not for everyone whereas long knee length skirts look good on most people. It just has to be the right kind of long skirt...I don't like the clingy ones prefer cotton ones that hold well..Saw an awesome collection at The Little Bazaar
