Guys and Skincare

In recent conversations with guy friends, I've noticed that more and more guys use skincare. But right after admitting they use skincare, some people's reactions are like, err but you're a guy! Really people, we're in the 21st century. People in our generation are generally fickle and vain. We're into taking loads of photos every time we go out with our digital cameras that have ever-increasing mega-pixels. Who can blame guys for using skincare when we girls spend so much on similar things?

I think it's actually cool when guys admit they use skincare. I mean, at least they care enough about their hygiene and skin condition to buy and use it daily. That actually requires money and effort. While there's obviously something wrong if a guy spends more time than you (girl) getting ready to go out, guys using skincare should not imply they're gay.

All this aside, I do love talking to guys about skincare. One guy was telling me how much he loved H20+'s products because they are all oil-free (which I totally connected with because I thought the same back then,) and one guy was recommending me an eye product. Skincare's such great conversation topic!

So girls, next time a guy admits he uses skincare, don't give him a weird look! And guys, do bother!

Personally, I'm so glad some guys are finally making the effort! Just even using the right cleanser for your face can make a man up his attraction in days. The more men that jump on this bandwagon, the happier girls everywhere will be.

I agree. Guys talking about and admitting to using skincare doesn't make them gay, it just means that they care about their skin, which I personally think makes them more attractive. Guys should be more confident about their masculinity and stop being embarrassed about using skincare.

Gotta love the transformation a male gets by taking proper care of himself. what a gentleman it could make out of more men by just ditching the old stigma for stepping out of the cave-men act.

"Skincare's such a great conversation topic"

uh, right. it's just that I cant think of anything less trivial but I'll definetly start talking about it when I want to look like a fool in front of my guy friends

My kinda macho boyfriend started using my skincare products some time ago because he loves the way his skin feels when given more attention. I love it too :) It doesn't make him less manly to have beautiful skin. Now he uses Clinique's men care stuff.

Yea, you definitely can't blame a guy if he wants to look his best. Good post!
p.s. the guy in the Dior ad is beautiful.

I'm a straight guy and have been using skincare for at least a decade.

Things have changed dramatically in the last 5 years with it becoming more and more socially "OK" to admit to using skincare. The range for guys has improved dramatically as well!

I really don't see what the big deal is. Everyone is cool with guys wearing cologne because they want to smell nice and I don't think wanting to look nice is much different.

Thanks for this blog. It's really assuring for guys like us who are just keeping our skins toned and healthy, thus our total well-being. Healthy skin is not a exclusive privilege of women and gays.

It's good that guys are also using skin care products. No matter who you are - man or woman - you should take care of your skin. My boyfriend has dry skin so he takes care for dry skin.

I like amea skindividuals. They use skin meeters and survey questions about your life style to give you a skin analysis and compound a customize cream for you right on the spot. So being a guy, and lazy, and honestly not really caring about researching what does what, I really like this cream. They start with a base which you decide how rick you like then from their analysis add 4 plant extract, aminos or what ever. But this treats my acne, but doesn't dry my skin and i've seen improvement in wrinkles. I never thought I'd be writing about a skin care product, but I don't want to be a butterface guy. and i also don't want to look like a chick with a million different bottle of lotions, creams, oils or what ever the f they use.
