Tory Burch Flats

Catching up with my friend in NYC, she asked me if I'd heard of Tory Burch. I said, "Yes, don't they sell clothes?" since I vaguely remember the brand as one of those frequently shown on the OC. She said, "I think so, I guess it hasn't spread to HK yet, but they sell these flats that is currently all the rage in the States and being the poser that I am- I just got some!" Intrigued since she usually doesn't follow the raging trends that closely, I googled it up and found the Tory Burch Reva flats.
At first glance, I didn't really like them. Especially the big metal clasp in the front, which HG very aptly describes as being a wannabe of the Roger Vivier buckle- which I don't particularly like either (although I hear that the taste for Roger Vivier develops over time). But then I tried imagining them in real life and on my feet (a very big stretch of the imagination) and realized that I could see myself wearing it as a cute variation of the classic flats. Because they're really not much different from all the other variations of flats that we all love, think Tods and Ferragamo flats with their metal pom poms and buckles. The Tory Burch ones just happen to have a slightly bigger clasp (the slight ruch at the back makes it even more Tod-like).

So while I don't see what especially makes it special and all the rage (it certainly doesn't seem all that popular with celebs as I could hardly find anyone of interest wearing them online), I do see its charm. After all, we can always use an extra pair of flats to walk around in. And in the spirit of brightening up our wardrobe, might I suggest choosing more colorful and texturized versions of the Tory Burch flats like these? One can only have so many pairs of black flats and besides, I don't see these flats as a style that will last you a lifetime. They're more one of those in the moment things. So have fun with it while it lasts!

I really don't understand why the Tory Burch flats are so "in" right now. You are right, they aren't much different that anything else.
...But I just picked up a pair of black patent ones. They are awfully comfortable.

If you don't like them that much, why would you spend money on them?

i think these are more popular on the west coast than other places. i like in ca and see them pretty frequently, but i wouldn't say they're all the rage.

most of tory burch's line is aimed at/popular with a slightly older crowd (like 30's instead of 20's), which could be why you're not as familiar with them. i actually think they're cute, and have a good shape to them, but i've been hearing about them for at least a year now... tory burch does have cute clothing and bags that are worth checking out though.

Live in Sweden but was in New York two weeks ago. Saw identical flats on payless for about $12. Regret that I didn't bought them! =)

i live in greenwich ct and there is a tory burch store on our main shopping location, greenwich avenue. i have seen these flats on people of all ages, but not many people wear the adventurous colors (which i myself would purchase). the clothes in the store are also very timeless and cute, very jackie kennedy-esque.

Yeah, I saw these for the first about a year ago I think. There are sooo many knock-offs now... delias, Steve Madden etc.

i was really surprised you didnt hear about these flats until recently! i found out about these flats last year i think... some people say these are THE MOST comfortable flats ever - these people are the vips of the likes of chanel and hermes so i suppose they know what they are talking about. i'd take their word for it. (although, i think french sole is just as comfy and it costs less!)

personally these flats dont really cut it for me... i dont dislike them but im not mad about them either. i probably would buy them if i see them in store, but not if i have to go to all the troubles to order them online and have them shipped to me all the way from the states.

btw, i like the orange ones the show on their website. something different and daring.

they are way past their prime. they were big last year. now, not so much anymore what with payless, steve madden and the like knocking them off.

Those flats are too ubiquitous considering Winners (Canadian version of T.J. Maxx) and Payless have their own versions.

Ugh noooo. They are definitely passe, and I have seen knock-off after knock-off. Check Wet Seal, Forever 12, Delias, etc. They all have the knock-off version of this flat.

I think these flats are adorable. Sure i wouldnt go for just any one of em but the yellow on thier site and red are cute paired with jeans and nothing but jeans. Metallic silver aint too bad either. Lots of celebs were wearing them for a while! I remember seeing them on Nicole Richie and immediately searching what brand they were. I think the most seen celeb in these TB's is her.

Last year on the Upper East and West Sides in NYC you couldn't walk a block without seeing at least one person wearing Tory Burch flats. Even guys at Columbia could name them since so many of the girls were wearing them.
I think they're cute -- although I prefer the ones with the matte bronze buckle. More subtle. Or the quilted version, which is more unusual.

I think last fall they were really big in NY and LA...and now this fall the knock offs have gone wild. I live in DC and we definitely lag behind the fashion scene, so maybe they will be big here this fall. Seriously if I see another pair of those damn crocs, I just might loose it. Worst. shoe. ever.

i live in NYC, and these shoes are still pretty huge here. I can't remember where but Katherine Heigl recently claimed to be obsessed with them and to want them in every color. Me personally? I tend to stay far away from "everyone wears it" trends like that (read: Juicy suits, Uggs, etc.), and at $200 a pop, hopefully Katherine can afford them in every color because I can't!

But Kenneth Cole does have some really pretty and interesting ballet flats right now.

Everyone should know before they spend $200 + on a pair of Tory Burch shoes that they're really poorly made! I purchased two pairs of shoes - one a set of silver sandals and one pair of ballet flats in June and they're falling apart by August! Neither was an every day shoe for me. I probably wore each pair 10x before it fell apart.

I LOVE the tory burch reva flats -- I have the orange ones and love them! I also just finally was able to find on line - the serena purple tweed in my size (sold out everywhere including burch stores)...... again - so in love.
I have some cardigans, some heels and a black leather bag I found on ebay for an amazing price.
Obsessed with this bag***

- To all the negative feedback... It's a preference* --- everyone has different styles...

--- They are not! poorly made as someone else posted

- and very comfortable*

and the knock offs look like knock offs -- it's a completely different logo.

In regards to the post by the girl from LA who stated that she wouldn't dare put hers on her feet again, because they were so last year......... my reply is:

"GET OVER YOURSELF!!!"

Tory Burch is classic* ---- not trendy.

They're comfortable classic shoes priced for people in their 30/40. They look good at work, don't hurt your feet when your chasing your children around, or your back for those nights out dancing. They're just good shoes that seem to go with everything.

UNCOMFORTABLE! i purchased my first pair yesterday and immediately boxed up the Tod's ballerina i was wearing to use the new goods. it cuts right at the back where the elastic comes up.

i have to say, there were not comfortable at all! it was well made yes but poorly designed and thought of. so not worth the money... i still love Tod's...

I agree 100%. Not only uncomfortable, but painful. I paid $160 for a pair of flats that cut the back of my heel after wearing them for a few hours. That's money down the drain. I definitely can not wear them again. Such a disappointment!

I really hope design team takes a second look at the Patent Channing flats. They cut the back of my heel and left a bloody mess on the shoe and on my pants.

Most disappointing of all was the fact that I sent an email to the company regarding this and no one even cared enough to reply.

Girls, think twice before you buy these razor flats. Or, you'll end up like me....walking around with a band aide, unable to wear shoes for a week.

I was so excited about the flats, but after wearing them wish I had gone to Payless. At least the price at Payless would make me feel better about purchasing a shoe that can only be worn once. The back of the shoe cut the back of the heel. I'll just stick with JCREW. This way, I know for sure what I'm getting when I buy a pair of flats.

These flats are cute to look at and I'll give you that they are soft. But for whatever reason they won't stay on my feet as I walk - anyone have a similar problem and know how to fix it?

Sales of these shoes are very clearly being driven now by aspirational and uncreative followers. The celebrities and fashion-forward wealthy elites of NY and Los Angeles have moved on. A woman at my office (who has about as much personal creativity as my computer mouse) was just talking about how "obsessed" she was with Tory Burch flats, prompting her to buy "3 pairs on sale" last weekend. (These were the first of these ugly, gaudy shoes she has purchased, I might add.) There is no way these are cool at this point.

They are probably what Westchester housewives slip on now when they go out to clean up dog poop from their backyards.

I do think these flats have passed their prime, even though they were once mighty cute. However, that is not to say that all Tory Burch shoes are "out". From what I have noticed, her boots seem to be disappearing off the shelves. I think her boots are elegant and sexy and I just ordered a pair, couldn't resist, let's hope that they're worth it and don't become so popular that everybody wears them and they go out of style.

I have the blue and gold pairs of the reva flat and I although I love the comfort of the shoes, I've noticed recently that both pair do in fact fall off my feet, it's embarassing to the company to have someone walking around LA pulling her shoes back on. I also have the white and black patent leather, they are both very comfortable and do not fall off.

For whatever it's worth, they appear to still be "in" in LA, I'm in my 40's and my daughter is 17, we both wear them and they are a classic, I've tried several other brands and most cut the back of my heel and never properly wear.

I have several pairs of these, although I still prefer to suffer in heels, they are great to run errands in!A great city shoe. I suggest to everyone that has issues with the back of these to break them in around the house with a pair of socks first. I had two pairs that really irritated my heels and several others that were fine. I agree with the ladies that these are classic and if a couple hundred bucks are going to break your bank- then don't get them- problem solved.

I am quite appalled! Does it really matter what is "trendy" and "in"? A true person who knows about fashion would not care whether or not these flats are in. If you like these flats, then buy them! If you don't, then don't buy them. Personally, I think some of Tory Burch's flats are amazing (her Lee Lee flat...wow). When I tried them on, they were comfortable, but I cannot be sure since I haven't actually worn them out. I'm sure that for some people, these flats will hurt, but everyone's feet are different.
